We are just back from 4 days (well 3 as we left a day early). Seriously disappointing, there was myself my partner and our 3 year old son. We stayed in a silver caravan and had a play pass included. We paid to book extra activities however these were cancelled, only informed of this when we turned up to the activity to be told it was cancelled! Lost the money we paid for these activities! Swimming pool was decent however that was really the only good thing! The shops and food services are extremely expensive and awful service, we got a chippy for tea our first night, hair in the food and chips were like cardboard! Nisa is also overpriced - Warburtons bread was £4!! Entertainment for kids states 6-8pm, this lasted half an hour! People smoking weed outside the kids soft play etc also each to their own but really shouldn’t be happening next to a kids play area where staff are walking about and still ignoring it! Haven couldn’t care when we expressed the issues faced! As I said swimming pool is decent and the soft play was great for the wee one but apart from that I wouldn’t waste your money! We will definitely not be back!

Stayed at craig tara, while visiting family. And the Ayr show. Security guard sent us to the wrong place. Arrived at accommodation. As soon as we opened the door, we were hit by the smell of urine. Stained sofas and walls. Burn mark in carpet. Freezer full of ice. No fire extinguisher. Following day we bought some cleaning stuff. Spoke to security, about the accommodation. Told to go to reception. Unfortunately we were off camp during opening times. So called out of hours number. Gave up after 40 minutes. The spring back doors are dangerous. There isn't much directions around the camp. We left a note for the cleaner's, showing them what we had found in the apartment during our stay. Contacted haven, with my concerns. Only to be told. Because we didn't report it while on site. There isn't anything they can do. But thank me for the feedback. Walking down to the accommodation there is little to no lightning. To say we were disappointed, doesn't really cover it. So much scope for improvement. Staff don't really seem to be interested in being there, more than happy to just chat among themselves. I think we will look elsewhere the next time we go up. .

Arrived on the Friday for a week. Stayed in a bronze dog caravan. Checked in at the gate and went straight to our van, which was on Arran View number 146. After finding it we realised it is on a hill, and the parking is below the van, with all the other cars, which was a first come first served basis on where you got a spot. The van itself was probably the most basic van we have ever stayed in, with there being no chopping board in the kitchen, and in the bathroom usually there is a loo roll in there upon arrival and a loo brush, also the extractor fan was non working ( not a problem). Just a real basic van. Bedrooms were very clean, and main bed comfy, as was the living area. The park itself was big, and we have to say very family orientated, and dog friendly, with lots of them there. There were plenty of places to eat and drink onsite, so you don’t have to go off site if needed. We only used Papa Johns pizza, chopstix for food once each, and have to say both were very good. We used the outside bar at night when we walked down with the dog for a drink before retiring, and the shop was always fully stocked and quite reasonable for the few items we had forgotten or run out of. The walk down to the beach was around 10 minutes but once there it was clean, and the sea was warm and clear, brilliant for a knee deep paddle with the dog. Also we had the bonus of the International Air show on at the time on the beach front, again another bonus. The downside to the park would be the parking, as i said before it was first come first served to get a spot. We found parking in the laundrette area, and walking through was easier than trying to get close to the van, as i have developed mobility issues, and walking has be one a problem. It was my fault not thinking to ring haven and see of i could change vans weeks before going. Disabled parking spaces are a problem also as they are few and far between, and mainly used by cars that dont need to use them, so consider that id mobility is a problem for you. Apart from the parking it is a decent family friendly site, and if i had grandchildren i would definitely think about a week with them at Craig Tara, or used as another base for exploring the west coast and Arran

park as a whole has a brilliant potential but see when you pack people in like fish and don’t have enough staff to man the amount of people attending your leaving people feeling too busy to enjoy it..

I'd highly recommend thinking twice about booking this site, I've used Haven for 9 years and Craig Tara has put me off for life, never again will I stop in a caravan. The site was disgusting, rubbish everywhere including the beach. Noisy drunk people in the middle of the night (and day), noisy cars through the night. One morning I was walking to the shop along one of the main roads and a groundsman was having a pee, I even seen him putting his manhood back in his trousers, what sort of family park is this. Smell of weed all over, and tha caravan wasn't the cleanest, the bedroom floors seemed to have NEVER been cleaned. But judging by other reviews Haven don't care so what's the point in complaining.

We love a caravan holiday and especially with all the entertainment and activities around to do as well. The entertainment side was fantastic and all the fun things to do with the kids but the caravan was still dirty. When we arrived the carpet inside hadn't been hoovered and there was dog hair all over it and other dirt, the dishes were still dirty but had been put away, the shelf in the cabinet inside the bathroom still had tooth past on and hair from when someone had shaved and a thick layer of dust coating just about everywhere. We went to reception and let them know and got told that she had logged that the caravan needed cleaned again and a member of housekeeping would phone us to come back and clean what was missed, but no-one phoned or showed up. Thankfully there a was broom in the caravan so I just swept what I could and cleaned everything else we came across. When we pay a lot of money on a holiday we would just like the caravan to be nice and clean as we paid for a silver.

Another wonderful trip to Haven Craig Tara, caravan was lovely and very clean, location was fab near facilities but still very quiet. Weather was kind to us so loads of walks. Facilities on site to suit everyone, shop is very well stocked. Overall staff are fantastic and willing to help. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Craig Tara This is our third Haven site of the year. Having read reviews just a week before the holiday started, we were filled with trepidation about the site. So let's start with the positives. It's a good location for exploring Ayrshire. Our caravan was ready on arrival, but why the seal was broken on the door prior l don't know. For the first time out of the three sites we have stayed at the cleanliness was acceptable. I did though check the bathroom and the kitchen floor areas as normally they have been filthy. Overall the van was not in a bad condition. Now for the negatives. Parking is an issue . There were too many multi-vehicled families on site taking up available spots. We ended up parking at different spots every day. Both the bathroom and twin bedroom doors kept sticking. On our last night we had great difficulty opening the bathroom door as for some reason it locked itself. The shower door was badly sealed so the bathroom floor got flooded. No wonder the floor was clean We found a smelly damp mop and bucket in amongst two duvets in a cupboard marked "To Store Cleaning Items". There was a complete lack of a grill pan or oven trays apart from one manky one that looked like plastic had been melted on it. We could have reported these issues, but felt these on staff on site should have been aware if they had bothered to check properly . They didn't just happen. Despite all the media coverage of children's education, there were once again umpteen families on site along with all the noise they make. So don't think going during term time is going to be quiet. The first three days we had noise from the neighbouring caravan from 7am to 11pm. This was followed by a different family for the next 4 days who as soon as they arrived the kids started playing annoying music on their pads. The adults appear to be oblivious to other caravanners. Thankfully we went out a lot. Security seems somewhat lax. We had loud exhausted cars and bikes going round the site late at night. One morning there were several police cars on site dealing with an incident. Having spoken to several people on site and in the local area, Craig Tara appears to attract disruptive behaviour. Don't bother with the Brigs of Ayr as there is not enough staff on duty so you can wait for ever for food and drink. If your lucky your food order will arrive and be barely warm. This though is not unusual at Haven sites as we found similar at Exmouth. Can't comment on any of the other facilities as we avoid them as a result of poor experiences in the past. Haven sites are not cheap. If you read other reviews from people you will see that. We like caravanning, but after the three holidays we have had this year, we will think again. Don't bother contacting Haven to complain, as it takes weeks to get a response, and ignore comments from them on Trip Advisor reviews as they obviously don't take any notice. Maybe BBC The Rip of Britain team should investigate.

The whole place was disgusting! Unclean. The apartment looked like the bedding hadn't been changed, full of hairs. The dishes, what few there were for a self catering apartment, were all filthy. Reception couldn't care less, just said they were full so no alternative to offer. If it hadn't been for daughter being booked into numerous activities I would have gone, as it wasn't fit for a dog. Had to put towels over the bedding to sleep on, felt dirty for days afterwards. On site pappa John's was terrible and over priced, could not cope with the number of orders. Still awaiting a response from Haven, as I have previously had good experiences at other sites. They don't seem to care either.

Honestly amazing! We loved every minute. Our caravan was spot on. It was really clean and had handy little extra activities for my son. Their was so much for our toddler to do on site and the beach was lovely! I have never been disappointed coming here and would highly recommend!

Brigs of Ayr worst ever restaurant, ordered sunday dinner charges full price, half the food wasnt on plate but still charged full price for the food we didn't get and wasnt informed when ordering that they didnt have it, when we asked about the missing food we where told none left, only being 2 hrs into lunch during peek season? the food we did did get was hard and under cooked or burnt. We asked to speak to manager and was told we need to go to him and complain as he didnt want to speak to us. When we did speak to him he was very hostile and aggressive and unsympathetic to us shouting "what you want me to do about it?" No customer service skills if i spoke like that to a customer i would be sacked on the spot. If he spoke like that to me outside he would be wearing his balls for earings his attitude was appalling. AVOID this place.

Booked saver caravan for me, partner and our 2 year old, Friday-Monday. We didn't bother with the passes as they were an additional £100 and all we would have used is the swimming, which I was put off with reading reviews about how hard is it to book a slot etc so didn't think it would be cost effective Our check in time was 5-6pm which suited me as I was working that day until 4.30 with just over an hour travel time to get there but I could understand this would be late for some. When we got there our caravan seemed far away from the centre (arran view) the view of the sea made up for that and the caravan itself! we got upgraded to a silver? had 3 bedrooms, was expecting 2, had full decking with table and chairs on which was great! Had a gate so my 2 year old could run around safely. Inside the caravan was really new, really nice and everything was clean enough. Beds were comfy! We walked to the centre which wasn't as far as we thought, we came out at the back of the swimming area. Only complaint was the key we had was not for our caravan so had to leave it unlocked, when we went to reception although it was closed a member of the security team changed the key no issues. The site central area was always busy, one day no cash left in cash machine, arcade area really busy as you would expect, long queues for VR, queues for food were long at chopstix and the chippy, and the wee supermarket, which was well stocked but over priced. Millies cookies milkshakes are good. We used app to order burger King to the caravan it arrived 15mins later than advised which was not a huge issue! We had breakfast at the restaurant one of the days, just walked in was almost empty and we were told they usually only accept bookings but since only a few of us would be fine, went to the bar ordered and a short while later cooked breakfast came out which was good but nothing special! We went to the beach which was OK a bit small and again busy, wasps and seagulls galore, went to the swing park and sandpit area had to dodge a thousand wasps!! Played a few arcade machines and my son went on most of the ride-on machines. The next day we went to Ayr got a taxi from haven Central area, cost around £15 one way but can also get a bus. When in Ayr we basically did the same things went to the beach, the swingpark and the arcades, which were all far superior to craig taras and nowhere near as busy. At night we just chilled out in the caravan while our toddler was asleep, was relaxing, and quiet outside, could either sit on the decking admiring the view with fairylights round the decking! or sit in the lounge area of caravan with the fire lights on creating a nice atmosphere, watching tv/listening to music. I must say the WiFi/phone reception is really poor and practically non existent which is annoying! All in all we had a nice break and would return.

So Back home after a Short Break here At Craig Tara Monday to Friday. First off when we pulled up to the Caravan it looked amazing?…. Even walking inside was like W?W!!! Until you get down to it. Breakfast bowls had stains and hair in a couple of them, stains on the bedding and under the pull out sofa had crisp packets, sweet wrappers and two pop bottles with half empty fluids inside. Obviously the cleaning team just do a rushed job. Everywhere you go wether it’s the bar, reception or on site shop you seem to queue for what feels a life time ?. Don’t even think about getting table service on the haven serve app…. It takes way to long, your best off just stand it out in the queue. The staff seemed to be miserable and unfriendly, at times I thought I was at a wake or Karen’s diner rather than on holiday. They just never seemed happy apart from one guy the old security guy who was always helpful. On the Tuesday I requested a frying pan for the caravan after several chase ups on Wednesday and then Thursday morning I finally received the pan at 16:40pm Thursday afternoon ?? along with extra table spoons and knives bearing a n mind we only had one table spoon in the caravan. A long time to wait ⏰…. Went swimming two days in a row on the second day I used the Three lane slide ? on reaching the bottom I slipped and fell over not once but twice trying to get off it… on slipping I caught my big toe on the gratings resulting in slicing my Big toe twice ?. I went to the lifeguards to clean the wound and they give me a waterproof plaster to put on aswell as a spare and he told me it was fine to go back in the pool ??… no way. I decided not to with me having an open wound and didn’t wanna infect the pool or catch anything from the pool. I just felt it wasn’t safe for me to do that. Even the trail of blood I had left around the walk way of the pool had not been mopped up. Not Very Hygienic!. I can honestly say the worst haven park I have been to and I’ve been to a few. I will not be back.
