We had a lovely stay at the Western House Hotel when we came up to Ayr for the weekend with family. Lovely, comfortable, spacious rooms with nice touches like home made shortbread by the bed when you arrive. The breakfast was delicious, and catered for all tastes and appetites. Very handy location for Ayr town centre and Prestwick. We would definitely come here again.

Husband & I visited the hotel today for lunch. As always service 1st class & food absolutely fabulous. Scallops best I've ever tasted. Hubby had the Belly Pork & i had Chicken escalope from the Grill. Delicious. Well worth a visit. Looking forward to going back in 2 weeks for the racing package

An exceptional wedding venue in beautiful surroundings. Hard working and efficient/friendly staff. Went like clockwork. Super food and no complaints at all at our table, good choice of dishes. This was a service/reception and everything went very well. Spotlessly clean throughout. A few of us elder guests felt that it could have been warmer in the main hall and that's our only complaint but was seen to by a staff member when asked to turn the heating up. For anybody in the Ayrshire area definitely the place to go for the big day

Just had our daughters wedding here and it was the most fantastic weekend. We had big pre wedding dinner in The Study. Food and service was 5* The wedding day was just perfect from start to finish. Cannot compliment Mary-jane and Vincent enough. Our rooms were warm and comfortable. The value for money was exceptional.

What a great place to eat when in Ayr. From the food to the service it is brilliant. We were staying in the hotel and booked a table at the restaurant. It is located within the main building in a room at the back, which looks onto the racecourse. The service straight away way impeccable with the young boy and girl serving us truly making our evening. The menu has a great amount of choice but the quality certainly doesn’t suffer because of this. We ordered starters and main to then be treated to an canapé from the chef, which was a lovely gesture. Our starters were delicious, would highly recommend the tempura chicken or veg and the haggis Bon bons.Mains were great to with the Beef Bourgenion beef the best. The pork was more like pulled pork and less pork belly which was disappointing, wouldn’t order it again but it was nice overall. The fish curry was very tasty too. We had a side of chips and onion ring which were perfectly done.We shared a lemon posset to finish was a lovely way to end it off. Will definitely come here again, one of the best hotel restaurants I have been to and it great value.Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible with disabled toilet nearby and lots of seating options.

Hotel building was beautiful with fantastic grounds … bedrooms a big let down. Bedroom was very dated. No curtains just a cheap roller blind. Couldn’t open window for Ivy and once forced couldn’t close. No bottled water just 2 glasses on a tray. One side of bed sloped. Restaurant booking for 7.30 and it was 8.45 before our food came - only ordered a main course. Never got offered bread although there was butter and side plates and it went to another table. It wasn’t that busy so I don’t know the problem. Had main course and then left. Nobody came to check on food. Nobody came to ask about more drinks. Staff were friendly when approached but not great service.

Have stayed here numerous times over the years and have to say this visit I was so disappointed.Room 114 lovely overlooking the stables although dusty were tv is.What really let this visit down was the service and food.At dinner no scallops which was the only thing I really wanted so had haggis Bon Bon’s which were too rich for me, then the young waitress had to ask 3 times what we were drinking as she couldn’t understand Drambuie!Im Scottish and she’s Scottish so no language barrier there also the passion fruit martini wasn’t as expected and glass looked as if it had just been washed and not dried as dripped all down me on first drink.visually not appealing so person making them should take a cocktail course. What we always like about hotel is a freshly cooked breakfast served to you but since our last visit this has changed to a buffet breakfast although there are certain items you can still request.Wasn’t asked if we wanted toast and the couple next to us had to ask server for some.If this is the way the hotel is in future I don’t think we will return as I can see little changes over the years whether to cut costs but it’s the small things that we love that made this hotel special.Even the shortbread in room has shrunk in size to half the thickness.

Comfortable room, good fatalities, breakfast and coffee good. Comfortable bath with lots h I think water. Unfortunately no shampoo or conditioner. Our room in the courtyard was smelling foosty when we arrived. We opened all the windows and it improved. We only had one bathrobe and no included bodywash/ shampoo except a bottle attached to the wall. It was very hard to reach from the bath as it was 4 feet up. Luckily my husband had brought a bar of soap from home!

Thank you so much for taking my request for a walk-in shower on board and giving me a superb room as well. Also my request for a fridge for my insulin was immediately sorted out and one was quickly delivered to my room I can't praise this hotel highly enough..the food was delicious , beautifully presented, the surroundings and garden were ablaze with colour and everything was beautifully clean. I came with a coach party and we were given out own dining and breakfast rooms, which enabled us to get to know one another quite quickly. The only strange thing was the tiny sink on my bathroom which meant I couldn't fill my kettle or water bottle as the mixer tap was so low into the sink but I managed without too much of a problem. This is one holiday that will stick in my memory for many years including the Edinburgh tattoo and a visit to the Britannia, but this hotel helped in making it extra special

Staff are brilliant- extremely attentive and friendly. Food is fantastic and drinks reasonably priced. We slept wonderfully in our room. It was immaculately clean, quiet and also was stocked up with lots of fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers. Bed and pillows very comfy! Really nice touch that they leave a bottle of water in your room - very helpful especially after a few drinks! The buffet breakfast was fantastic. Great selection of food, brilliant haggis. The perfect hangover cure! We will certainly be back!
