Francis - one of the few remaining Managers who actually care about the customer experience and dosnt have the attitude that they are above the basics like taking your coat, taking you to your table and actually pays attention to the fine detail. He makes a fuss of every customer no matter who they are.

I am unfortunately changing my original review.Visited after booking a table in January 2024. Again a small birthday celebration for my older brother. Out for a beer and a meal.Went to a place we had come to traditionally for the last few years. Wow what a difference in service from excellent to really poor.Started of with no one able to find the reservation. But got seated, drinks in and order placed. Starters came out about 15min later. Bro had the Cullen skink. It was excellent as was my own starter, a tack on a spring roll.Then it went into complete shambles. After an hour of sitting and chatting still no main course. We had gone up and reminded a few times. Then my brother finally gets a manager who lies about the delay. Out comes the meal. "Oh the plates are hot just be careful".Both meals had been blasted in the microwave after being left under the hot plates. The veg was burned and as you bit into the carrot scalded, the mash was a rock hard. The final straw was when cutting into the steak n ale pie the meat was welded to the side of the pie dish.The staff were to busy jumping out for a cigarette and forgot to serve. The order wasn't put into the kitchen excuse after excuse. It was pitiful.Sad end to a 69th birthday celebration. Left went across to the Indian Restaurant across the road and were treated to an excellent meal and even better service.Food when you get it and it's not been reheated is good. Service has gone down a sinkhole. Just like my meal, the service has gone into the bin.Poor.

Great place to eat, menu varied and interesting and service very good, even during busy periods. My last meal there was tasty although it suffered from only being served a small amount of pasta. I find it typical in local restaurants that you can be served mountains of french fries, big portions if rice but just childrens' helpings of pasta. Using Buzzworks card produces great vslue for money.

Shocking Service, we come here a lot and service is always slow, but this was a new low. Twenty minutes before being asked what we would like to drink, asked for a glass of ice long with the drinks, never came. Fifteen minutes later took our food order, one of our party ordered a side of chips with their main meal , which came ten minutes later before any starters had arrived, we sent it away and said we wanted it with meal!! Starters eventually came and was lovely, starter plates cleared then we waited for main course, by this time we had been seated for one and half hours and still no main dish. When it did arrive again meal was nice so no complaint about the food. At the start, one of our group had used the ladies toilet and noticed there was no toilet paper, she informed the staff, but this was never sorted while we were there. At end of the meal we asked for the bill, well we waited and waited, eventually we lost patience with them and had to put our coats on and pay st the bar!!! Two things about this experience firstly restaurant wasn't busy and there appeared to be plenty of staff and secondly one may ask why we didn't make a fuss, well because of previous experience with poor service we wanted to see how long it would actually take them to serve us, As we paid the bill at the bar we complained about the service and staff didn't appear to be bothered and offered no apology. We love the decor and the food in here but we have given the restaurant many chances but that was the last straw, no more

Really disappointed with our family brunch today and it’s the second time in a row we have not enjoyed it as much as previous visits. The staff were all friendly but the service was sooo slow and the place was nowhere near full. Hot drinks took ages ( could see them made and sitting in bar for an extensive time before a waitress would bring them over. Food took forever and was very average, caramelised banana pancakes were nowhere near as nice as previous visits and no longer caramelised… No rush to return
