Good fish & chips, friendly service

Tim AOL Morris

Have just eaten here, fish supper, and eat on sea front, in the cold. Highly recommended it ?

Tiny portions, pour quality and at exaggerated price! The batter was undercooked and soggy. Fish wasn't much better and pour quality chips. Not what you'd expect from a island chippy! No wonder it was empty at 6pm on a Friday night.

Perfect for satisfying your fish and chip needs but they do have other yummy foods available!

5 stars all round. We enjoyed our honeymoon on Arran and on one evening decided to have a chippy - boy am i glad we stumbled across this wee place. The closer chip shop, Mara, had already closed by 4pm so we ventured to Brodick. £10 fish supper, ballpark standard price these days, which was more than ample with a generous portion of chips and a lovely piece of fish. I did have sight of the varied menu, which is clearly displayed on banners on the wall which i have to say makes all the difference - not having to squint up at a board! Standard chip shop fayre, along with burgers, mozzarella sticks, all that good stuff. 5 stars for the service too, the gentleman who served us (possibly the proprietor?) was a delight, friendly and professional and patient as we decided which of the various dips we would like to take with us! 50p a tub, choice of mayo, tartare sauce, ketchup, bbq. I have given 5 stars for the atmosphere purely because....its a chippy, and about as atmospheric as any chippy ever is, I don't feel like the lack of atmosphere is any reflection on the business. Thanks Hooked and Cooked! We will be back.

Ordered online via well laid out website, simple and fast ordering and payment. 3 fish suppers delivered in good time to a remote address. Good size portions and well priced at £10 considering location, quality of food and convenience. Wouldn't hesitate to order again and recommend. Thanks!

Can of irn bru and a large chips £6.50! It would not have been so bad if your "large" chips were of a decent size, but a standard box with an extra scoop is pretty poor. To give you relevance, I pay £3.20 for regular chips back on the mainland, and it's larger than your largeGranted, the prices of gas have gone up, but it's the same for every chipshop owner. I am sorry, but the portion was at best a regular, and at those prices versus portion size, it is bad. The service was great, and the chap was polite.

Very expensive but food was nothing special. Fish was cooked fresh but chips tasted like they'd been pre-cooked and sitting a while. Portions are very small for the money too. Maybe a bit too reliant on being the only chippy on Arran and one of the few takeaways in Brodick that's open in the evening. Don't know that I'd have gone back if there was any other choice.

Aweful food, rip off prices and poor customer service. The worst chippy I've ever visited in a long time which is a shame seen as it's the only one available in Arran. Cost me £17 for 1 battered sausage, 2 portions of chips and 1 gravy. Ordered large portions of chips which came in tiny trays and equally small portions, the gravy was extremely runny and the battered sausage was pretty grim. Wouldn't recommend. Wish I'd checked other online reviews before visiting.

Family of 11 ordered food and we got amazing freshly cooked food very quickly. We enjoyed amazing fish and chips, the kids devoured fish/chicken and chips and we even shared our 1st experience of a battered Mars bar. Right next to harbour as we waited to board our ferry back to the mainland. Would highly recommend and would visit again if we are lucky enough to sail over to Arran again

Claims "islanders choice"Everything cooked fresh ,, 5 min wait , gets my order, chips are brown n dry , battered sausage had no taste and batter was like latex (chewy) should have went home and had dry wheetabix instead . Disappointed unfortunately

Uppety attitude from staff, extremely average portions and chips were awful!! Fish batter was greasy. Overpriced will not return.

My mate and I ordered a fish supper each. I'm picky about fish and chips, thought the waiting area was a bit gloomy but let's try it. Within about 5 to 10 mins it was ready, the staff were really friendly and what a beautiful meal we had. The batter was crispy, the fish juicy, the chips were just perfect, we couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely be going back 100 percent.

Absolute shocking customer service by counter staff! Never been so embarrassed, only asked about our 20 min wait and was verbally abused by the girl on the counter. Food was ok, portions small for what we paid.
