My Dad and I showed up on a busy Sunday afternoon without a reservation, most places treat you like a leper if you turn up on a busy day without booking but the Staff at the Plough were great and managed to squeeze us in the pool room.We had the Sunday carvery and enjoyed our food, The service was good and my plate was piled high. The staff were chatty, friendly and accommodating. This pub is no frills, affordable and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

Went for carvery for the first time on Sunday. First gold star was coming in, waiting behind other people at the bar and the manager instantly made eye contact, greeted us with a smile, and said she'd be with us shortly. Amazing, it seldom happens these days, 10/10 for your customer service and that goes for the rest of your staff. The carvery was one of the best I've ever had and you obviously have a chef with flair as there were lovely touches like the rosemary in the roast veg, the creamy veg puree and giant home done yorkers. Was also delighted at pink beef, such a rarity on a carvery and a skill to do so well. Thumbs up and thanks all of you, will be joining the swelling ranks of your growing Sunday crowd!

Brilliant pub overall. Staff friendly and efficient. Carvery turkey and ham were well cooked, veg was plentiful with a good selection. Beer was spot on. Highly recommended for Sunday lunch.

Absolutely fantastic, arrived at 4:55pm hoping to get some grub and they managed to squeeze us in for a Sunday carvery (normally finishes at 5pm) it was absolutely lovely, great service and they even do pigs in blankets! Couldn’t have chosen a better spot!

We visited for the Sunday carvery with a big group and had a great time. The meat was delicious and the vegetable selection was varied and also very tasty. Lots of the food was gluten free and there were yummy gluten free puddings too. Great way to serve the gravy too so everyone can take as much or as little as they like.

Heard really good things about this place so thought I would book the carvery. Booking in was fine and they were able to accommodate us. On arrival we were not greeted by any staff at the bar. A lot of local men came in and the manager took to serving them 1st although we had been waiting. We decided to wait by the restaurant where we were ignored by all staff, not one said anything. I went back to the bar and after about 5 minutes a lad spoke to me, I said I had booked. He then checked the diary and took us to the restaurant where he offered us a table and said just go to the carvery when your ready. We went to the carvery and yes good selection of meats and veg. Just as I was getting my meats the manager went to our table (which had been booked for someone else apparently) and want to take me stuff away, I just said to her that we were told to sit there to which not in a very polite voice "by who", I said the young lad at the bar. She then sat this family down somewhere else. I ask about drinks and was told I needed to go to the bar to get them, at this point the bar was busy so I left it a while. I only wanted 2 glasses of water but again was no acknowledged at the bar buy the staff. Again another 5 minute wait. Okay so the food, my meats were fine my husbands well his was chewy. Veg, over cooked carrots, undercooked peas, the roasted potatoes was solid in the middle from being cooked and reheated. Payment. Went to pay at the bar as no direction on what to do and I felt like I was be accused of trying to rob them. Got overly questioned about table numbers, tabs etc. Sorry not a great experience.
