I rarely leave reviews but can’t not thank the lovely team for what was a truly unique, wonderful experience.I dined alone with my dog and could not have felt more welcome. The environment is beautiful, the intimate drinks beforehand so cosy (with a brilliant old fashioned), and the personal service and storytelling a really special experience. The food is incredible and a true labour of love. Low waste, locally foraged, highest quality ingredients, creative dishes and special touches - everything about the ethos of this place is just perfect. Plate after plate of thoughtful food - seven in total! - made with love. It’s less of a dinner and more of a food experience. Really special and great value for money. I'd recommend to anyone.

Lovely restaurant with rooms, really delightful all round. Attentive hosts who met us at the station unexpectedly, and provided tea and homemade biscuits whilst checking in.The room was comfortable, with delicious treats including a dram and homemade chocolates which we enjoyed after dinner. The menu was varied and interesting, with tasty and beautifully presented local food, including extra mini courses throughout the meal. We loved the self-serve cheese station with a nice choice of cheeses and accompaniments.Breakfast was really high quality; the freshly squeezed juice was really appreciated, and the cooked breakfast was perfect, but other options available were very tempting. The hosts offered really helpful and interesting information about the area, with great tips for walking, and they provided up to date weather information - always useful for walking in Scotland, especially when we had no signal. Dinner in the restaurant was very relaxed with no time pressure or dress code, and there was a choice of seating areas in which to enjoy a pre-dinner drink and choose from a good selection of games, jigsaws or books.Thank you Scott and Steph, we had a lovely stay!

I had read all the 5 star reviews and can honestly say that this place exceeded my expectations. From arrival Scott and Steph and also their employee Marco were so friendly and helpful. Steph's cooking was superb. We have paid twice as much for half as good food. The proprietors are passionate about what they do, and about the area generally and are a mine of information. Among other things we appreciated were the map and binoculars in the room. Do not miss the Drambuie porridge. We will definitely return.

I booked in for some respite after hospital treatment. I was solo, but was made to feel very welcome with a cup of tea provided during checkout. The room was spacious and I had a fabulous bath. Dinner was amazing and I was so full that I couldn't finish my breakfast the following morning! Fabulous cooking and nothing was too much trouble.

Travelled by train from Fort William, a beautiful rail journey through stunning scenery, for this amazing restaurant meal. Steph and Scott provided the absolute best possible experience; very warm welcome, relaxing pre-dinner drink taking in the spectacular location, and truly exquisite meal. It’s abundantly evident that guest hospitality and culinary excellence is the very essence of this place. Thank you so much.

What can I say? A lovely place in a fantastic location (provided you, like us, like being in the middle of nowhere!). We arrived by train (1 minute walk from the station) and left on foot to walk over the moor to Corrour. Staying here is the perfect antidote to the busyness of everyday life. Scott and Steph were very welcoming. Our room was extremely comfortable with lovely views over the moor. Steph’s cooking is very special: the 7-course meal (was it only 7?) was exquisite with a good choice for starter, main and dessert courses as well as some delicious ‘taster’ dishes in between, all using some amazing ingredients, and eaten in the relaxed surroundings of the restaurant whilst watching the red deer and pheasants out of the window. This may not be the cheapest place to stay / eat but you get what you pay for and there cannot be many places like this. A stay here is a truly memorable experience.

Ideally arrive at Moor of Ranch hotel by train as we did on our first visit some years ago. This time we came by car - about an hour and a half from Pitlochry mostly on narrow roads with passing places. We were welcomed by Scot with a pot of tea as we checked in. Our room overlooked the vast moor with a railway track disappearing into the distance and gazing at this made a refreshing change from looking at a TV or internet screen (neither of which is available here Food at both breakfast and the 7 course dinner is exquisite and created by Steph their amazing chef. Choosing what to eat is very difficult as everything is superb. Even the homemade bread formed a course on its own served with a flavoured butter. My breakfast of mini muffin, porridge with Drambuie and double cream, followed by herb omelette stuffed with sliced portobello mushrooms set me up for the day, while my husband had homemade granola on yoghurt with a berry compote followed by smoked salmon on tattle scone topped with poached eggs and a creamy sauce. (Ingredients are locally sourced and high quality) The hotel doesn't do lunches but Saturday to Wednesday there is a cafe at the nearby station. It was closed on our visit so we hopped on a train to the next station - Corrour - where we could lunch at a leisurely pace and catch the next train back to Rannoch. In the evening pre dinner drinks were served with nibbles and deer come off the moor to graze by the hotel. The absence of a mobile signal meant socialising with other guests was a pleasant experience! Thank you Scot and Steph for a wonderful break.

We only came for dinner, we did not stay in the rooms here but the place and location is gorgeous. My partner and I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries and eat in some amazing places, but The Moor at Rannoch might be our new favourite restaurant (which was previously Poppy in Seattle WA, before it sadly closed). We booked dinner here for my partner's 40th and my gosh, everything was perfect. The location is incredible - views over the moor, deer and pheasants ambling up to the window infront which looks over the stunning Scottish sunsets. It feels you are dining at the end of the world, in a good way.Scott and Steph could not have been more welcoming without being intrusive or fussy. From the welcome drink (an incredible array of Scottish twists on classic cocktails, the Negroni was especially enjoyed) and starting 'nibbles', which were not even part of the official tasting menu, each element of the night was special. The meals are curated depending on what is in season and who is dining (requirements requested at booking) - I won't list each course but my absolute favourite was the roasted artichoke with truffle brie and black garlic (though a close second was the dessert: brown sugar ice cream with carmelised breadcrumbs and blackcurrant leaf cordial). I'm not a huge artichoke fan but this dish was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. A huge shoutout to 'yesterday's taco' aswell - best taco I have eaten, with a sourdough twist, and it ensure food is not wasted. The atmosphere is lovely - fancy without being fussy (casual dress code, dogs welcome) and although each dish is served on beautiful and creative serving dishes, with a brief introduction to the flavours and inspiration, it did not feel pretentious at any point. If anything, the cost undersells how special this place really is.If you are considering booking, don't even hesitate - this is an extremely wonderful piece of Scottish culture, remote, wild and wonderful!

Such a great weekend at the Moor of Rannoch. Food exceptional, really notable. Amazing dinner this good can be enjoyed so far from anywhere. Service absolutely spot on, from the moment Scott met us on the platform at the station next door, off the sleeper. Rooms warm and comfortable. Great wine list and whisky selection. Also, good directions up the local mountains.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the cottage we were staying in. We used the dial a bus service to and from the restaurant and were very impressed with the service. On arrival at Moor of Rannoch we were met by Scott the owner who introduced us to the local deer population. The setting is stunning. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink and a selection of nibbles in the lounge. This included salami, smoked almonds and the most amazing little cheese biscuits. It is £85 for a 7 course meal but was amazing value for the quality of food and love that went into the menu. Our dishes ranged from oysters, lamb wellington, fennel tarte tatin and the most amazing cappuccino custard tart. All finished by a beautiful cheese board. Anybody thinking about eating here is in for a real treat. The food is delicious and very cleverly prepared by the chef Steph. Both Steph and Scott made us feel so welcome and we will definitely be back for more.

We were recommended the Moor at Rannoch by friends and werenot disappointed. A lovely reception by Scott and Steph. Very welcoming and helpful. Our room was cosy, comfortable and modern with personalised touches. The taster menu and breakfast were both splendid. Even though we only sent a night there was lots of wildlife and spring time snow. We'll hopefully return for longer to explore the area further and sample more culinary delights. Thank you for a special time.
