Food was cooked well and the service was first class. Decor, music and seating arrangement created a nice relaxed atmosphere for a night out.Other two members of our party loved their evening, I did feel that the set menu only format took something away from the tapas experience. For me tapas is all about picking several small dishes of food from the menu and mixing and matching your favourites, enjoying a drink and then ordering some more if you still have room! The set menu format was almost like a tasting menu where you have little control over what food will be served that evening.Cant fault anything, service and food/drink was great and evening was thoroughly enjoyed. Just not convinced by set menu.Parking: Can be tricky finding a space during the evening.

One of my favourite places away from home. I always take my friends and family here when they are visiting from Edinburgh or Glasgow. It has a a lovely cosy atmosphere and a very impressive vegan menu. Everyone I take always wants to go back. I only wish I could visit it more often!

We were enjoying our food on a Saturday evening until I saw my husband was about to eat raw chicken with blood clearly showing on one side! We called the staff and a young waitress came across and she apologised and offered to bring a replacement from the kitchen to which we refused. This incident made me feel quite sick and took away the joy of the meal. Yes I suppose it could happen but surely a good chef would not make this mistake and we would have appreciated if a senior member of staff had come over to our table and apologised or someone from the kitchen but nobody did. Bad show, won't be returning.

Everything about this lovely tapas bar is charming and authentic. Every dish comes fresh to the table and there are plenty of variety whatever your tastes. We had vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters on our table yet I was impressed at the ease in which all were easily catered for with the tapas. The wines are an absolute joy! The red Rioja was particularly good and better than you will find elsewhere.Vegetarian options: Lots of tapas that cater for all food tastes just let the staff know at the time.

Friendly and informative waitresses, deliciously tasty dishes which were more than ample for sharing with my partner. Not normally a massive fan of broccoli or sheeps milk cheese but one word for both these dishes....."wow!" Personal favourite though would be the Andalusian chicken salad although every dish was well worth the visit. We will have to return when better able to savour the various dishes over a bottle of wine. Restaurant, kitchen and waiting staff certainly merit their spot near the top of Dundees many good restaurants.

Great place. Everything is cooked from fresh, and as it is a sharinv platter (tapas) experience, they ask about dietary requirements then cook all dishes to that requirement so there is no..you can have that, but you can't have that...just smooth and delightful evening with family.Dietary restrictions: GF well catered for, I was stuffed.

We were staying in Dundee and wanting somewhere for dinner. Sol y Sombra looked interesting. The tapas menu is fixed. The server asked us about any allergies and whether we ate fish or meat then half a dozen cold dishes were produced to start with. Another half a dozen hot dishes followed. I am quite a fussy eater and had some doubts about not having any choice but I enjoyed everything. And the food was so plentiful had I not wanted a particular dish I would not have gone hungry. We did find just enough room to share an orange sorbet between us which was also delicious. Service was very good. The restaurant was full although it was early (6pm) but we were served promptly but not hurriedly. We'd certainly be back if in the area.

Felt very very rushed, the waitress was picking up plates of food we still intended to eat, when we said we were still eating she still took the plates away! Really disappointed, as we wanted to sit and chat while picking at the food but we were practically ushered out the door to get the table cleared. We stayed for around 30-45 minutes so not overly long. The food was fine otherwise if not a bit bland.

Visited today and it was exceptional! The service, food and atmosphere can't be faulted - very well done! Ive recently returned from my time in London after 10 years and it's terrific to have a place like this in my home town of DundeeWe will be back very soon!Fabulous and very well done to all the team and owners

Very disappointed this time round, cold starters were not great and coleslaw….why would you serve this! Wine was warm had to ask for ice, fish needed serious seasoning as it was tasteless, patatas bravas hardly any sauce on top. Menu needs a serious overhaul - won’t be rushing back.

I don't even know where to start. Let's go with wow! From the friendly greeting when first walking through the door to the knowledgeable and attentive waiter upstairs (but far from intrusive). The service was just pure perfection. We were asked if we'd been before (we had not) so the workings of the evening was explained clearly. The first course to arrive was the cold tapas. Everything was given its Spanish name but a British explanation was also given. No pressure to eat at speed, but the waiter was always in the background keeping a discreet look out. Then the hot food came out! I made an audible gasp at the beauty of it all ( unintentionally obviously, I didn't even realise til the waiter giggled). We've been married 26 years and this meal was in the top 3 of all meals we've had out in that time. I wish we lived locally (6 hour drive away) we would definitely be back again and again.

Worth a visit. Nice food, presented well. Booked our table via the restaurant booking app. They offer a set menu at £27.50 per person at the time of writing this review. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers from the time of our booking (17:15) till we left. The waitresses were very attentive, also asking whether we had any specific dietary requirements. The wine selection was good and wasn’t too expensive. I’ve visited Spain quite a lot myself, and although some of the “tapas” weren’t familiar to me it was good to get a chefs own creations. All in all the food selection was really good. We opted for the fishless menu but chose the gambas pil pil as it’s a personal favourite of ours. The ambiance was good with a selection of new and not so new background tunes. The owner(s) have decorated the place with Spanish souvenirs. The toilet walls were interesting, see photo.
