Breakfast it's not a buffet, you have to wait long long time for anyone to come to your table - only one person in charge, and you're waiting and waiting... the worst service in whole UK - I travel a lot.

Unfortunately I cant give anything for the rooms but the service and spa were great. The staff are very welcoming from the first call booking to arriving and then the spa treatment. I picked the lady Sioban who was amazing. I got the back neck and shoulders massage with the back of my legs and arms. She made me feel so relaxed I fell asleep. This is a first. My wife got Beth and said the same. Thank you for everthing Crutherlands. I will defo be back.

good hotel, some fixtures a touch jaded but fantastic beds, clean rooms, nice service, excellent food. need to light the lounge fire in winter for atmosphere which was missing a bit, but rooms can be very warm if preferred. quiet location just outside town but only 5 mins cab journey to town and station. nice grounds with interesting river in the gorge. would stay again. Got a good room rate - special for early in the yearFood & drinks: quality food, nice wine, not overly expensive

Great hotel for a short stay in a cozy, quiet and relaxing environment. Nice pool with sauna and steam room, well equipped gym. Fantastic massage at the spa. Tasty food at the restaurant. Friendly staff. Just a little refurbishement of some little things would make it 5 stars.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, good restaurant, clean rooms and bathroom. Large comfy bed but sleep spoilt by leaking gutter. Lift out of order. Problem as I am disabled.

The hotel was ok. Spa and pool were too busy with young families with kids for us to enjoy. Evening dinner was fine however breakfast was not so much. We were offered toast with our breakfast and coffee that never came until breakfast was finished. The staff in the dining area were fantastic. You could see that issues were out of their control but they did their best to keep assured. And were constantly apologizing to everyone.

We booked a family room, we found the room left with a used jug for water and used glasses. The room only had 2 plug sockets. Then found the beverage only everyday tea as a tea option, a coffee (caffeine) and 3 decaf options. The loo roll holder felt like it was gonna drop off.The room was cold.Room number 210We booked dinner, bed n breakfast so we had a table in the bar.The starters were delicious, then our steaks arrived but was cold n incorrect. We awaited them to be remade and again it was amazing when it arrived.Breakfast was a lovely spread.Overall the facilities were good, dated room decor, random missing things like water fountain for spa usage.Heating should be switched on before guests arrive.

A dishonest and narcissistic business, upon working within this establishment as a fitness instructor the staff were deplorable, constantly back stabbing and lying about each other, bullying and abuse took place while HR looked the other way, staff members were being accused of theft & when i left this horrible place they tried to pin this on me (nice try) members of the public within the local area who used the gym were being harassed to take out spa memberships, as fitness instructors we were to sit down and discuss this and cost the client for this, i found these tactics to be sly and disgusting all just to pinch another few pound, they hired an incompetent individual from Ireland who became supervisor and was accountable for bullying and abuse from trying to wrongfully, accuse members of staff of things that didn’t happen, jobs which he said weren’t completed but were, this individual also wanted to turn the gym into a massive state of the art hardcore gym however considering that the majority of full-time membership users were of a vintage age mobility, balance & General movement would be a preferred option. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have left so freely and I would’ve had my day under the Equality act 2010 with legal action with the behaviour they inhabited.

Unfortunately my experience yesterday was extremely disappointing. I visited yesterday for my mums 60th with a group of my family. Upon arrival we entered the hotel reception to ask for directions for the spa.The entrance to the hotel smelt like a old folks home. The receptionist girl advised us how to get to the spa and informed us however that the spa couldn’t provide us towels as the tumble dryer was broke!! Everyone of our party hadn’t brought a towel as the spa advised towels and robes are provided. She didn’t seem to care and I was furious as we travel to the place- the hotel could of at least phoned first thing before we left. Some of our party had to travel all the way home to get towels or we would have had to have left it. So this are away at our time using the facilities. We tried to carry on for the sake of my mums birthday! The lunch was poor, one younger girl attending to us hardly to be seen. Sandwiches and cakes were disgusting.I ordered 2 kids menus- this still had to be paid. We waited around 15 mins after eating to ask someone to pay for this as we wanted to go back to the spa, no one came. I said to my family I will pay on the way out so we could go down to the spa for some time. After then coming out the spa and walking back to reception I found 3 people awaiting for me like I was going to run away and not pay for 2 kids meals. This was not the case! I knew when I was walking towards reception as a lady said to a male member off staff “there they are there” like we were criminals. Not value for money

Lovely hotel, great Accessibility room. Lovely helpful staff. However, two single beds pushed together to make a king size bed is fine but it has to have a king size mattress, not two single mattresses.Noteworthy details: WiFi really not up to standard.

Stayed on the 27th of January for my birthday. Was originally offered early check in as we had spa treatments early. Arrived 30mins before treatments to be told room wasn't ready was told it would be ready for after 1pm which we accepted as our treatments were split and it took us up to that time. In the spa having treatments trying to relax only to be distributed by loud laughing and then the constant hand dryer and door banging from the toilet next to spa.Head to the room looks ok on first glance went for drinks and came back to shower to find a black mark on the towel in the room i called down to ask for an other towel to be brought up to be told no one from housekeeping are in the hotel and id be best going to the spa and get it myself. Understandably not happy went came back and my wife asked me to go look at the shower, to be met with built up soap scum all around the shower tray and a hair knowing that no housekeeping were in the hotel i had to clean it myself with one of the face clothes. After this i went to reception to complain got told no manager was in atm and was offered a bottle of wine which i stated was the minimum that i was willing to take but stated i want some form of money back for the fact i had to clean my own shower in a hotel. Dinner was nice cant complain about the food although breakfast was not the best in terms of service. I have since had to phone 3x to get some form of response only to be called today by Barry that i will not be offered any refund as "he has checked the room" having stayed in macdonald holyrood last year and thought it was a lovely hotel safe to say i wont be back at this dive anytime soon.
