“Had such an amazing pizza here last night accompanied by a lovely glass of wine , I felt I needed to leave a review. Its just a small place but the atmosphere and the food are so good . The service was friendly too. All in all , highly recommended.”

“Cozy little tearoom on the way to Hollyrood and the Scottish Parliament. I stopped here for a snack (a nice cup of Scottish Breakfast and a delicious slice of carrot cake) and oh boy oh boyThe tea and the cake are awesome, just like the staff that politely recommended me what to have for my afternoon break. The place is small, comfy and very well decorated. 10/10, I love this place”

“I stopped here for a leek and potato soup and a lovely dairy free biscuit ? loved it. Will definitely go back now that I discovered this place. It is difficult to find GF options and having a Café where you know everything is gluten free is amazing!Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options available”

“As a lover of specialty coffee, Lowdown hit the mark in every way. The coffee was unbelievably good (I had the flight), it was served and discussed with passion and love, and the space to drink it was beautiful and wonderful refuge from the Edinburgh rain.Do your research and come prepared to drink something new, prepared by amazing baristas who are obssessed with great coffee, and you won't be disappointed. This is not Starbucks!!”

“Very much enjoyed Italian style cuisine in a nice contemporary restaurant. Excellent burrata, was more a main course. Nice anchovies. Very nice Chicken Milanese, and Monkfish. Fabulous Tiramisu. I’m a bit of a connoisseur of tiramisu, and I order it across the world. This was possibly THE BEST. Nice drinks list. Service is perfect. The owner managers, father and son, are friendly and take their work seriously. We look forward to visiting Edinburgh again so that we can return for more great food. The walk from the centre of Edinburgh is very worth it.”

“Mid-afternoon snack and pick-me-up, and chose this place randomly. So glad we did! The iced tea was the best on our trip, and the scones were AMAZING! — warm, texture just right, with butter and jam. And the service was both pleasant and quick. A high point of our day!”

“I love this quirky wee place. Had lunch with my son here today. We both had pho, which was delicious. The drip coffee was strong and sweet and the owner is so warm and welcoming. We’ll be back soon to try the banh mi. If you’re around haymarket, please don’t be put off by the roadworks as you can’t hear them from inside the cafe.”
