We really enjoyed eating here on our first night in Edinburgh. It was convenient, being located within our hotel, prices were good, and the quality was fantastic. Excellent fish & chips. They also had a fantastic sticky toffee pudding. Cocktails were good and service was great. We came back for cocktails on a separate day because it's a cozy place to hang out.

Typical Ibis style room, comfortable but nothing fancy. Located right in the middle of Edinburgh made it easy to access all the sights. Good selection of restaurants in the neighbourhood including chain cafes for those unwilling to try anything too ‘Scottish’(e.g. Haggis). Staff helpful and friendly.

Excellent bedroom ( I had a premium room). Nice snacks and Irn Bru! The breakfast was good but quite stressful due to the number of guests. Dinner service was slow but food was decent. The reception area didn't give a good first impression but the hotel grew on me. It was just slightly too far out of town for where I was working and South Bridge is very busy. Some road noise although I was right at the top of the hotel. I had a great view of Arthur's Seat.

Good location, the room was spacious and functional, the bathroom was reasonable but not even a USB charger.. The common spaces are very dated but the friendliness of the staff makes up for it and had water dispenser. Breakfast also reasonable.

Was very impressed with this hotel, last room at last minute , was excellent. The only complaint would be the walk to room and down one lift to go to another to go up, confusing but the room was great, equipped fully and was clean.

This centrally located hotel served as home base between our arrival and departure from Edinburgh. We took at 8 day Skye and Orkney tour in between. Rooms were adequate with comfortable beds. No breakfast was provided but you could buy one from their restaurant which they really pushed. The breakfast was expensive. We expected breakfast to be included as it often is in Europe. There is a market a few doors down. We grabbed fruit and pasties from there. A croissant was 1 BP. Much cheaper than the coffee shoppes that are everywhere and much more economical than their breakfast. Did not think it was a great value. Rooms were very expensive relative to what we got.

The room is okay. Average. You get what u pay for. Close to the Royal Mile/High Street, beside Sainsburys and walking is easy to most of tourist spots. The only thing is, the area can be rough at night. Otherwise, it is an okay-ish budget hotel.

Good: Check in was easy and receptionist was very helpful throughout the process. Air conditioner is a great plus and is precisely adjustable, which means a lot to me. I was able to call (without having to wait on hold) and clarify a transaction query and the staff was professional and helpful (more details below). Bad: WiFi was not password protected so cannot use work laptop to connect due to company policy. I was able to get around with the hotspot which had good connection in my room. I understand that not having a password makes it easier for people to connect, but for security reasons I avoid connecting to open networks of any kind. Door slamming is loud in the morning and can be heard from my room in the morning. Neutral: Disappointed no iron or ironing board in my room, but at least there was a common room that had one I could use. There was an odd double transaction of the hotel stay when I paid for my stay, I was initially deducted a large sum and then I noticed a smaller sum was deducted from my card statement, but I was not given a receipt for this additional deduction. Turns out the total deduction was indeed for the entire nights stay, so it wasn’t a fraudulent use of my card as I initially expected, but it would have been nice to pay the full amount at the initial check-in. Overall: OK rating at 3 out of 5 stars.

First rate hotel. Very clean and staff were excellent, could not do enough for us. Good food and great bar. Great location, not far (5 mins tops) from the Royal mile. Rooms were well furnished and comfortable. We had a great four days at this hotel.

I cannot say that I am satisfied with room 625 when I sum up what I have seen and experienced. First of all, you can't get everything down on the first flush after you've used the toilet. You have to wait and flush several times. Then we have the wet room carpet in the shower which is a disaster. There is no problem for water to get under the carpet and since it has been doing so for a while, it is directly hazardous to health with what is under the carpet. Mold is a fact if you tear up that carpet. I have full respect and praise that you have a fully handicap-accessible room and when you don't get that rental, it drops the room as a last-minute booking. But paying the amount I did for this crap is a disaster. Feel sorry for disabled people who have to live in this.

This hotel might be good for individuals, but definitely NOT ideal for a tour group. I brought a group of 16 Americans to this hotel for the start and closing of our tour. Location was excellent. Staff very friendly but not always helpful. Could have been a language barrier. Lobby is tiny and at times VERY congested. I echo what other reviews have said about the unusual bathroom. More like something on a cruise ship. Group dinner, which is usually a sit-down 3-course pre-paid meal, was instead a buffet. The dining room is sprawling with some tables in what looked like hallways. Strange to have hotel guests constantly walking by our tables. Most of our rooms were quiet, but some got stuck near the "thump thump thump" disco music. First night there the fire alarm went off and (most) guests hurried to the street below. Seems it was a false alarm but we couldn't go back in until the sound stopped. Some people were in tiny PJs and barefoot. It was cold out there!!! Finally a hotel worker cracked the door open and told this to a few of us. What about the other 100+ people? I thought the one of two lifts was out because of the alarm. Nope. Another guest said it was like that for a few days. When I inquired an employee said they were waiting for parts. One tiny elevator for that big of a hotel? Not pleasant.

We stayed at this hotel 19th-22nd May and found everything fine . Check in & Check out was quick and smooth and our room (834) was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. We had tea/coffee facilities a flat screen Tv and a nice modular type bathroom ( similar to a cruise ship) that had a decent shower with body soap/gel and hair conditioner plus hand soap supplied. The window was triple glazed ( non opening) and was quiet from any outside noise. The bed was comfortable and we slept well . There is a ironing room on this floor set up with a ironing board and iron etc rather than have in room irons. We used the bar a few times and found the staff friendly and helpful, especially Francino who was lovely. The prices of hotels in Edinburgh are very high the nearer you get to the royal mile and the price we paid was at the lower end of the range ( around £220 per night without breakfast). Enjoyable break and would recommend this hotel .
