I write this review in relation to a recent review that was posted by someone named C G, now a simple search online, and I knew this was the same reviewer, as I was unfortunately sat next to her, and her friend in Isola restaurant in Edinburgh.I was actually tempted to move tables, as I found them to be extremely rude to the staff from the moment they arrived.Throughout the whole meal they were either on the ipad, or on the mobile, and there was no interaction with the staff when they were shown to the table.When the waitress did approach the table, it was almost like “why are you interrupting me” when all the waitress were doing was trying to take their order. Not once did they look up or engage with the staff, she just continued with her head firmly glued to the ipad.Perhaps if they spent more time looking at the menu, they would have been served faster.But in all fairness to Isola, whose reviews speak for themselves, they just acted in a most professional manner.Interestingly the diners both cleared the plates and said nothing in the restaurant as they left, and why?, because the food is 1st class and lovingly prepared as mentioned in most reviews.I think the mention of the word RACIST is really rich, because from where we were sitting, it was all to clear who had the RACIST attitude towards the staff at Isola, and given what this person is studying, we were actually appalled by the behaviour of this person,

Had to laugh reading some negative reviews here , it really annoys me as a chef that some folk put this restaurant as fairly authentic when ( THEY )can't even fry an egg at home .this restaurant is authentic, the food IS fresh , just had the best grilled seabass ever and if you not happy just get out of that " can't cook won't cook attitude" and feed yourself at home !!!!Big up Isola , you are the best in the area, hands down !And that chef running the show in that kitchen on his OWN !!!!! WOW !!! MIND BLOWING!!I'm lost for words

Fairly authentic food, but the restaurant lacks the authentic Italian hospitality, in fact, there was this elder British waitress who was condescendingly RACIST. Firstly, I had dinner there and had to wait for one hour before my food was served whilst all of the other customers were served, when the restaurant was half empty. Secondly, said waitress attempted to correct my English, whilst I don’t have an accent as I was brought up with it. Overall, my dining experience was utterly negated by the said waitress, and I am disappointed beyond words.

Incredible food! Lovely cosy atmosphere and great service from a really friendly team! Some of the best seafood I've ever had (the prawn pasta was exceptional!) And the Seadas (one of the strangest sounding things) was incredible, so glad I tried it!!!

We ate at Isola last night, celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious and it was great to try some Sardinian dishes and wine. There were plenty of options for various dietary requirements, and staff were really helpful with this. The service was lovely and attentive. We will without a doubt be back!
