“A relatively small place we just happened upon whilst leaving a Fringe show. Popped in to see if they had a table for 2 and luckily they did. It doesn't sell alcohol but there are soft drinks available and you can take your own for £2 corkage. The seating and tables are just basic but it's clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our order was taken and the freshly cooked meals arrived in no time and they were absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit.”

“That's us just nipped into the city for a wee bite and to visit some shops. Here on holiday from America, I always struggle to find healthy, light food in Scotland. When I suggested sushi for lunch, I was surprised to find such a cozy, peaceful lunch spot. We were fretted upon arrival and sat with menus. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. My husband ordered the Seared Tuna with a miso dressing that he loved and the Tokyo Roll. The roll was quite large and hard to eat but very tasty (he is new to sushi). I ordered the Hamachi Nigiri- melt in your mouth delightfulness and the Soba noodles. Such a light, fresh meal! Today is Tuesday so it wasn't very crowded and it was a perfect lunch!”

“Same of the dishes are are hit or miss. But overall it's okay. If you're familiar with Asian cuisine you're NOT going to be amazed. Portions are quite generous. Prices above average.”

“One of the best japanese restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food is so authentic and delicious, there wasn’t one dish my partner and I didn’t love! The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and the service was so good! I would definitely recommend booking a table, because it can get quite busy. It is also a bit expensive, but it is so worth the price.10/10 restaurant!!!I ordered:Vegetable tempura, sashimi set, dynamite roll, tuna temaki, eel temaki, foie gras gunkan, chicken kaarage, umi signature grilled scallop nigiri, takoyakiThis all costed below £90”

“Great little hole in the wall if you're looking for something a little different. I was able to walk in without a reservation and sat right down. There were a couple reserved tables, so it would appear as though reservations are definitely an option if it makes you feel more confident about getting in. The restaurant itself is quite small, so if you're going with a group bigger than 4, I would suggest a reservation. The food was quite tasty. The menu has everything from appetizers like gyoza and edamame to sushi and ramen. I stopped in for just a light dinner. The food was hot and fresh, plenty of flavor, and the prices were right about what I would expect to pay for a place like this. Being a smaller establishment, they were out of certain things and that's not too surprising. Just be prepared with back up options, there is plenty to choose from. Overall and great stop off the beaten path.”

“I dined here at Maki & Ramen with it being the only place near my hotel that would take walk-ins. I was promptly seated at the bar. I ordered a few pieces of nigiri and the black garlic tonkotsu. Unfortunately the rice on the nigiri was stale and somewhat tough. Thankfully the ramen broth was very flavorful. You also get a fairly generous portion of tender pork. All-in-all a surprisingly delicious bowl of ramen.”
