We’ve been long time advocates of the Kyloe, travelling from Aberdeen to our “favourite” restaurant, however our experience on 9th July was far from what we expect. We arrived and were promptly seated and given our menus, 30 mins later we are still sat with our menus waiting to order and we hadn’t even had our drinks order taken either. We ordered a bottle of wine which the waiter returned to tell us they didn’t have a chilled bottle to serve and were trying to quickly chill it for us. Our starters arrived swiftly which we both enjoyed, however our mains were not as enjoyable. The mash arrived cold and the steak was tough, definitely not our usual experience. The waiter noted he had also forgotten our bread but by this time we decided we didn’t want it. The bill came and was eye watering for what we had. Overall the experience of that evening leaves us with no plans to return again after being frequent visitors for approx 8 years. Very disappointing and won’t be recommending to friends or family.

After much deliberation we eventually chose to go to Kyloe. We were not disappointed and can’t rate it highly enough. Service, presentation, staff and food were all top quality.

Lots of delicious choices of fine cut meat for those who love steak, The accompaniments are delicious too. The restaurant has a fun vibe.

Was there as a group of 10 for my university graduation dinner. Our waiter was excellent, attentive, genuinely pleasant, and a delight to speak to. He kept us right in terms of what kinds of cuts of meat and their temperatures should be while listening to specific requirements and suggesting the best cuts. After making our order we sat excitedly waiting for our meals. Unfortunately, that's where the night's experience began to deteriorate. We waited nearly 2 hours for our main courses to arrive, and when ,they did the junior staff that was serving our dishes had absolutely no idea what the steak cuts were and gave them to several people erroneously. Everyone at the table were constantly swapping plates, with each waiter contradicting the other. It was like a plate-merry-go-round or a lazy-susan style situation. It was highly frustrating and not the kind of service you expect from a fine dining establishment. Eventually, everyone got what they required except my mother and my brother, who did not receive ANY meal. We were told that their meals were only '5 minutes away' - 30 minutes later, they still had not been served and everyone was pretty much finished. My mum was so frustrated with the service she was actually in tears thinking it ruined my evening (it didn't but it marred it slightly). We made a complaint to the nearest waiter only to be met with condescension telling us the process was 'complicated' I mean I'm no chef, but I don't understand how cooking a steak is complicated. Regardless, It was certainly not what you wanted to hear after waiting for 2 and half hours for your meal. II want to say that the food was actually excellent (when it arrived). I also want to thank the general manager who understood our frustrations and very graciously took a large amount off the bill whilst comping several drinks. Furthermore, he took us to their private gin bar next door and gave us all a round for free to end the evening. I intended to set the service as terrible/poor as the service was shambolic, to say the least. (perhaps new staff and busy kitchen) the senior-waiter and the General manager rectified the overall experience, and I would recommend going to Kyloe's if you want a delicious steak and a good atmosphere.

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Best steak and great selection. Our waiter for the evening was Voytek he was extremely attentive and couldn’t be more helpful. He made our night. Very detailed in his explanation and recommendations for the steaks, was very knowledgable, honestly such a wonderful friendly person. Will definitely be returning.

For my wife's 50th birthday we attended Kyloe with friends and had Federico in service. The attentiveness Federico had, not just for our table but across his line of service was impressive, treating everyone with care. The recommendations made to pair with our preference, and wine and drinks allowed us to make selections with confidence. These choices resulted in one of the best quality services and food we've had in years remembered.

While it is expensive (next to Waldorf) it's value was pretty good. Food all good ingredients, clean, excellent service, good ambiance, a repeat if I'm in town and want to be assured of a good dining experience

We had a work night out in the private dining room at Kyloe. The room itself is below the main bar and an excellent space to have a private gathering. We had 2 members of staff looking after us and they were excellent - great service and unobtrusive. The food was good (but not great). Obviously because we were a group of 12 we had to choose from a special menu - 3 courses for £60. The starters were good (although the crayfish cocktail was tiny!). Most of the main courses were good, especially the steak (albeit luke warm) . The coley main course was not good at all - the fish was full of bones. We spoke to the staff and they said they would speak to the chef but we were disappointed not to be offered something else or a refund. The desserts were good too. Overall a really nice experience in a beautiful room. It’s not cheap but overall was worth it (apart from the fish!!). We would return.

Fabulous meal here, service was outstanding 10/10 for quality, cleanliness, service, ambiance. Waiter extremely attentive knowledgable and polite. Complimentary breads served too. The chateubriand was the best I have ever tasted, the Malbec was lovely too. All in all an outstanding experience.

Finally tried Kyloe having heard so much about it. We are big steak fans and really enjoyed the Kyloe experience. Being shown the cut of meats and told a bit about the farm they come from before ordering and choosing knives etc adds to it all. Our waitress Brogan was very knowledgeable and friendly, explaining the full menu and specials. The braised beef shin and haggis starter was excellent. The sides with the steak were really nice as we're the sauces. I thought the steak (Ribeye) was nice but have to say I've had far better in other Edinburgh restaurants (even in non steak specialist restaurants). All in all a nice dining experience but won't rush back if I'm going out especially for a steak.

I dined at Kyloe with my partner on recommendation from a friend during a weekend visit to Edinburgh and we were no way disappointed. We received fabulous service from everyone we encountered. Brogan who served us throughout our meal was absolutely fabulous. She had in-depth knowledge of the menu as well as the specials on offer and could share with us excellent advice. We have good knowledge of meat both being from a farming background so didn’t think we needed to run through the cuts but over hearing Brogan speak through the cuts of meat with another table I actually learned somethings. The food was delicious and served perfectly. We were left to enjoy our meal and felt under no pressure or rush. We were even given time to enjoy after dinner drinks. And Brogan had a keen eye to approach us any time we needed attention. I would gladly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. And would visit again should I be back in Edinburgh.
