Second time here and even better than I remember! The best authentic Italian food and lovely staff. My favourite spot in Edinburgh, will be back again soon!

Delicious homemade Italian. One of the best lasagnas I’ve ever eaten! Would highly recommend. All staff were lovely and accommodating. Great service all round!

You’re walking downtown and you see an Italian restaurant here in Edinburgh, and the assumption is the food can’t be very good because it’s a tourist trap, right? I couldn’t have been more wrong and am very happy about being wrong. The service is great. Our server chatted with us and gave us the some suggestions on what to order. I had the best lasagna and fruiti de mara outside of Italy. We also had the arancino, which basically fried risotto in a ball. It was delicious. And the tiramisu was also very satisfying. Is it in a touristy area? Yes, but make no mistake this place is no tourist trap. This place deserves the attention that it’s getting. Definitely a place to try.

As an Arab the workers were so racist. They asked me for a reservation and I didn't have one then she told me I needed to eat and leave in 1 hour. But after seconds a Scottish resident came with no reservation and nothing happened to him!Reply:Your attempt to deflect blame is pathetic. I won't stand for your excuses. The incident I described was blatant discrimination, and your feeble attempts to cover it up only make it worse. Take accountability for your actions and do better, or expect more negative reviews to come your way.

We stopped in after a lovely walk down to Dean Village, and I am SOOOO glad we did. The ladies were so warm and welcoming on a cold day, and the food was exceptional - it was fresh, it was full of flavour and it looked delicious! We had a mix of the specials and normal menu, which were talked through by the servers. We could’ve stayed all day, although when we walked past in the evening it was a full house so clearly a lot of people know how superb the place is!

Had a very nice meal here early on a Thursday night. Highly recommend booking ahead but they were nice to accommodate us between bookings. Highly recommend the mussels starter -- there is some magic in that sauce. The gnocchi were so soft and fresh. I had a shrimp, tomato, and focaccia special and enjoyed it very much. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE FOCACCIA. I've never had it like this before, seemed like it was grilled or cooked in a press, and they added the perfect amount of rosemary and flaky salt. Yum. Also ordered a side of the Italian broccoli cooker in garlic, which was a very generous portion. Had a delicious panna cotta dessert and an affogato to finish off the meal. Perfection!

"La Locanda in Edinburgh is a culinary gem! From start to finish, the dining experience here is exceptional. Their starter soup and arancino set the perfect tone for the meal—simply delicious. But the real stars of the show are the Pappardelle and Lasagna; they are a symphony of flavors and cooked to perfection. What truly sets La Locanda apart, though, is their warm and friendly staff. Their hospitality adds an extra layer of comfort to the entire experience, making you feel truly welcome.Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, La Locanda is a must-visit. Five stars are well-deserved for their scrumptious dishes and impeccable service. This restaurant is a true treasure in Edinburgh's culinary scene!"

We made the mistake of coming here hungry. Then two of us made the mistake of ordering the gnocchi. They were not bad but no better than what we whip up at home. But mostly the portions are tiny. We added the roasted potatoes because that is the only substantial side dish and still left hungry. We saw the prices and decided to stay but we will not do so anymore. If you go here to impress somebody with high prices you're in the right spot. If you want to eat because you're hungry, keep going.
