the Easter Champagne Afternoon Tea at Rhubarb Prestonfield House Hotel was a delightful experience that combined the elegance of an afternoon tea with the festive spirit of Easter. The tea menu is exceptional and I loved the view over the gardens; The hummus with quails egg was so delicious as were the selection of delicious sandwiches, freshly baked scones (clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam) and a variety of beautifully made sweet treats, all accompanied by a glass of Billecart Salmon champagne. The charming ambiance of the hotel and the impeccable service provided by the staff made it a memorable Easter celebration. Such a beautiful place- a real hidden gem in the City.

This is a fabulous place ... beautiful old country house yet close to Edinburgh centre ... just a 30 minute walk from the University district, sumptuously furnished and set in gorgeous grounds. The Easter special afternoon tea was one of the best I have had ... the savouries are really special - sandwiches, yes, as you would expect, but also an Easter garden of vegetables planted in edible soil ... not humus but houmus, served with a tiny spade, and delicious. Then scones, cream and cakes, all top-notch. And a long menu of teas. Also washed down, in our case, with a fruity glass of Riesling ... goes perfectly. ?Highly recommended.

Food and cocktail selection was amazing. While I had difficulty deciding, both servers were very patient with me and checked alternately if I was ready to order. I especially loved their starters and I was glad that I ordered two starters for a treat to myself (exercise after...lol). A hearty meal for winter. Very thoughtful to ask if I needed a break after the main before desert was to be served and when to serve the hot tea and petit fours. This question was probably the best indicator of the services for most restaurants. For interiors and atmosphere, it was done perfectly. I knew I had a soft spot for restaurants housed in heritage buildings and refurbished to give the historic fabric a new lease of life. Sofas were comfortable, almost too comfortable that I didn't want to end this wonderful meal so soon (after 2-3 hours anyway). Good value for money, too.

Came here to celebrate after the university graduation. We literally booked half hour before hopping on a taxi and arriving at the hotel/restaurant door. We had other plans to go somewhere else but unfortunately it was close, so we had to think on our feet as it was beginning to rain. The staff was unaware of our booking being so last minute but accommodated anyway! We were very thankful for their hospitality and the flexibility. The kindness they showed to a family of five that afternoon was the most memorable thing that day (even more so than the unnecessary long graduation ceremony…).Anyway, we ordered the set menu and everything was delicious and well presented. I sort of wish I had ordered from the vegan menu instead because all of my friend’s dishes looked creative and original.Highly recommend visiting during the festive season! Their Christmas decorations were simply out of this world. It was magical and we were fortunate enough to experience it all.Dietary restrictions: Vegan menu available

The ambiance and service 5/5! I love the wine selection especially the dessert wine. I booked for two and got an amazing view from our seats. The food generally is good and interesting but the beef en croute was too dry for me and I could not go on to finish it. I was disappointed. But I love the crème fraiche tart with sorbet.

We decided being our first hogmany to dine at the prestonfield , we visit fairly frequent as it’s one of the best places to eat in Edinburgh in our opinion . As expected we were not disappointed , the food was exquisite we shared a chateaubriand which was as always cooked to perfection , the sides were amazing and the service as always was perfect they even took pics for us to remember our night . Thank you prestonfield for maintaining your usual high standard of food and service Alan

Lovely service, delicious food, tasty wine, a very memorable experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the Mallard Sharing for two. Some 0% alcohol wine would be a charming addition to the drinks menu, the mocktails were nice but something more than 0% lager with dinner could be great for non-alcohol guests.

We really enjoyed dinner at Rhubarb at Prestonfield House Hotel. The ambience was sumptuous and cosy on a very wild and windy night, the food was delicious and top notch, the house white was very good and the staff were excellent; attentive and friendly. The beetroot starter was very fine and delicately made, the fillet steaks melted in the mouth and the desserts were very good too. The flowers in the hotel were eye catching. All in all a wonderful evening.

We ate twice in Rhubarb during our stay. The ingredients and meals were delicious. The starters were small but very good quality. The dining rooms are very luxurious and in a mid winters night very cosy. The staff are a joy and very attentive. I am pescatarian so I would have struggled to eat there three night in a row. In summary, a very good quality restaurant with excellent staff and food.

Beautiful food with lovely presentation. It felt like a real treat. We had a nice cocktail and glass of wine. The room decor and hotel decor overall is gorgeous. We were a little disappointed with the service though. Everyone was friendly but we were never asked if we wanted more water, wine etc even though my cocktail glass was empty and I was keen to have a glass of wine with my main course. It arrived, and the guy left before I could ask for the wine list and it was hard to catch staff's eye to ask for the wine list. That would be our only feedback.

We booked dinner, bed & breakfast and looked forward to a luxury evening – and we weren't disappointed! The room was lovely, the evening meal was outstanding, and the breakfast was excellent too. The staff were wonderful at all times. We also had Afternoon Tea that day when, with 9 other family members – including 4 children – we we were well catered for and the kids enjoyed the first class experience, the hotel and its gardens with the peacocks. Prestonfield is a great getaway hotel – a place in the country in the city!
