Steakhouses in Edinburgh

“Absolutely amazing! Visited here during a trip to Edinburgh and have been thinking about it since. Ordered haggis with cheese mash potatoes. Service was also great and there's an interesting mushroom farm next to the bathroom. Please re-open your London location!”

“Loved this place. I got the mussels with the traditional cream sauce (which was quite light) and my husband got the mussels with the spicy plus pork (!!) and we shared a Cullen skink. We would have been fine with just the soup and one order of Mussels total. But it was all great left over so we got two meals out of it. Busy down to earth staff.”

“What a find! It has to be one of the best restaurants we have been to. It was small and cosy venue. The service could not be faulted and the food was superb. The presentation was spot on. Not too fancy but very nicely served. The small menu had something for everyone and cooked to perfection. We could not recommend it highly enough.”

“This bistro was recently awarded its Michelin star. Its small with 6 tables and serves dinners from thurs-mon. Attentive staff, nice ambience with views over the Meadows to the castle. Menu mostly seafood but 1 meat starter and main available. Our seafood was excellent. Two starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine was £120”

“So good. The steaks were amazing. Perfect portion though it seems small when it comes out compared to American portions. lol It was weird that there were no veg side options besides salad but perhaps that’s a culture thing? The music was just a tad loud and we felt it kept the atmosphere from being romantic but otherwise it was a five star experience. 100% would go back if we are ever in the city again.”

“Dropped in on a Tuesday lunchtime and managed to get a table for two. Chose the lunchtime menu and selected a starter of mushrooms in a cheddar and spinach sauce with toasted croutons - delicious! This was followed by a beef strip ciabatta with chunky chips and beef fat gravy - yummy! Service was good and our experience gave an insight into the full a la carte menu.”

“Booked dinner here after positive reviews we thought we would give it a try. Initial arrival was a little strange, arrived on time but were told our table wasn't ready and to take a seat. There is a bar area but no one to take a drinks order, we sat for 10 minutes so would have been nice to have a drink. Shown downstairs to our table, there was a nice atmosphere with a DJ playing music. Staff were very friendly. Beetroot starter was surprisingly exceptional, lots of flavours and so fresh tasting. Ordered a bottle of wine, I was extremely disappointed with the wine. It was £59 a bottle but tasted below average. I later checked google to discover it was a £9 bottle from supermarkets 'Cotes Du Rhone grenache'. I completely understand restaurants must mark up their charges but to add a £50 mark up for a bottle of cheap wine is outrageous. We had steak for our main meals, these were excellent and cooked to perfection. Dessert was also lovely. Overall an excellent restaurant, great service. The only reason not a 5 star review is the bad taste left by the wine and the £50 mark up. When we return I would not order any wine.”
