Lovely spot, open on Mondays! We came here based on the Fish & Chips reviews. We shared that dish and the gnocchi-both were nicely prepared and very good. Had my first Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert-yum!Andrew was our server, very attentive and kind. They also offered to store my luggage in the office as I was coming from a weekend trip. All around lovely space, highly recommend!
My wife and I went here just before Christmas for her birthday. The place is great. We were advised when we arrived that they were very busy and there will be a delay in getting our food, no problem we weren't in a rush so all good. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had a cocktail and a whisky to start the evening, brilliant. They brought some tasty nibble then the starter, excellent. Then a pallette cleansers again great. Then I had the venison for my main,I must admit I was a little disappointed while the venison was cooked perfectly it was a little tasteless I've had venison many times before and this was a little lacking.Food wise, that is the only complaint. The wine, we ordered the malbec and at £41 a bottle not really up to it sadly. The wine is quite expensive here.Other than those niggles a good place to visit.
Good restaurant in a great location. The service is the best. We ordered 5 main, turkey and seafood were not impressive, but the steak, venison, and duck were excellent.
We had Christmas dinner at The Magnum last Saturday and I have to say that food was absolutely delicious ?❤️We had few small plates and turkey dinner. I can highly recommend this place! Also great service by Sara. Thank you for a lovely night!
Beautiful experience from start to finish. Service was amazing, the waitress was so attentive and friendly. We were given a gougere each before our starter and a shot of pea, courgette and mint soup before our mains, both were delicious. We overheard another customer was returning and it’s no surprise, the duck we had was the best duck we’ve ever tasted by far. If we have friends visiting Edinburgh we will without a doubt be recommending that they make time to visit The Magnum, it was the best part of our short trip. Thank you!
Top notch food, quality ingredients presented beautifully. Exceptionally friendly, and professional staff, nice ambience in the restaurant. Well worth a visit, more central than you think- very easy to get to. Great value too, very reasonable,
Fantastic service and very good food! I was here twice and tried the Cullen skink, the fish and chips, the soup of the day. I felt very welcomed and was very happy to find a table at rush hour without reservation. Thank you!
Amazing food, very nice
Gorgeous place with lovely, welcoming staff who saw my friend and I were served quickly as we were under time pressure. The food was incredible and accompanied by a great wine list. Would come here time and time again if we lived locally - would love to work my way though the menu as it all looked amazing!
We had an amazing experience at the Magnum restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were incredibly generous. The Magnum dish never disappoints, and I'm always impressed by the fresh and amazing quality of the food. It's evident that the chefs truly love what they do, and it reflects in every bite. Highly recommend this place for a delightful dining experience!
Excellent lunch stop. Very happy with the choices and the quality of both the food and the service,
Absolutely faultless! The food was amazing (starter, main and dessert - highly recommend the Cullen skink, the duck and the sticky toffee pudding!)The service was immaculate, friendly and attentive and so welcoming despite being very busy! We’d come here again in a heartbeat and would definitely encourage anyone to visit :)
Oh my goodness, this lunch was delicious. We ordered various small plates: open ravioli, ham and potato croquettes, bang bang cauliflower, calamari, duck bao, and rocket salad. Delicious. All perfect sizes for two people to share. Service was excellent and everything down to the background music was perfect. Love, love, love The Magnum.
First time visiting Edinbrough and visited Tuesday night for dinner.had seen a friend's post when they were dining here. Absolutely delighted. Delicious appetizers, food - fish and chips, venison and Cullen Skink, cocktails. Just a lovely evening. Emily was terrific - frankly the whole team. We felt welcomed and will definitely visit again.
Amazing food! Hidden gem for good food but also good portions ;)
