Excellent local branch with all the amenities you'd expect at their larger store. Super friendly and helpful staff.

This is one of the smaller branches. It has a small coffee shop, with very good pastries. The staff are excellent and most helpful. There is the feel of being in a small local bookshop, but with modern decor and layout.Whenever I visit, every few weeks, I have to steel myself to curb my spending otherwise I'd easily buy more books than I could read.....thanks to very enticing displays.Thank goodness for Waterstones loyalty card.

I usually think of Waterstones as a place of well-curated books and helpful service. But the service was definitely off yesterday afternoon because of the rude woman working at the cafe. I stood at the front counter obviously waiting to make a purchase only to be ignored by her for several minutes as she busied herself working on the espresso maker—not assisting another customer, but cleaning the various parts. All she had to do was acknowledge my presence and explain a colleague would help me. But instead she ignored me, turning her back to me when I said “hello.” Finally, when I asked if the register was open, she abruptly and curtly told me that someone else would help me when they returned to the register and then turned her back again. No reason to be surly and unkind to customers. So lacking in the professionalism and courtesy encountered at other locations.

I usually go here a few times a week. Went in today and walked up to the counter. The woman working at the café looked at me and as I was about to speak, picked up the closed sign and slammed it down on the counter in front of me without saying a word, then turned her back. I'm so disappointed because I really liked this café and now I won't go back again because I was treated in such a rude way.

Nice book shop with a café.

A physical bookshop. With real touchable paper books. A rare thing worthy of support these days.

As always a great atmosphere for buying books. Good cafe as well.

Had a lovely cup of tea with the best bakewell cake. Sat outside and our tea was taken outside for us, all part of the lovely service ?

Love Waterstones, this one in particular has really helpful staff.

Great place for being bustled and bumped next to big precarious piles of the latest books, if that's your thing. I wonder if some folks just come along for the physical contact. Honestly, why would you bring your dog into a cramped bookshop with you, people? Byres Road seems to attract myopic sociopaths.
