Much better smaller independent pubs in the area. Food was cheap and nasty. Service was slow. Everyone looked like they were giving up the will to live. Dire.

I am a coeliac so I used the allergy tablet that is one the wall to see what I could have. I ordered the chickens wings with sweet chili sauce, and the BBQ chicken melt with baked potato. The wings came out and I noticed they were deep fried so I went and asked someone to check they were cooked separately for her to come back and tell me they weren't but they were gluten free. When I explained about cross contamination she then understood and I got them refunded but I won't be back

We both had a delicious meal, stopped in on our way to the cinema . We both had the burgers ?. We ordered on the app, so easy, everything was delivered to our table, no waiting in queues at the bar, perfect! Staff were fantastic, very polite and friendly . We will be back with bells on.Parking: Parked straight out the front of pub and put our registration number into the tablet near coffee machines . Easy free parking

I love the Golden Acorn! There is a great range of real ales and lots of other drinks across the whole range at the best prices in town bar none! The service is great and the staff members are very helpful, professional and friendly. I buy food most times I’m in as it’s of great quality, is delivered to my table within 10 to 15 minutes and it’s very competitively priced. I can’t recommend this place enough - do yourself a favour and go there soon!?

Have stayed many times here in the same room(106) with no problems but this time we were nearly an hour late in getting checked in due to hotel being fully booked the night before and a the cleaners only getting 3hrs to clean them all!!!. Manager told us our room was ready only for us to find the room upside down so had to wait another 30mins. Room was thick with dust and the windows when open are absolutely filthy in the tracks. Evening meal was lovely but spoiled by having a large raw mushroom on my plate!!. Waitress wasn't to bothered about it. After paying £115 for this overnight stay I won't be hurrying back which is a huge pity as really enjoyed staying here previously

Soulless, as are most Wetherspoons pubs, but you don't come here for that. Cask beer quality is usually good, and other than for that I only come here when waiting for a bus or my wife to finish whatever she is doing. Never tried the food here, but I'd rather microwave my own food at home anyway.

Decent food, decent environment, horrible service, came with our drinks “you can figure out who’s is who’s” basically chucks them down on the table, walks away and spoke to us sarcastically, waited 40 minutes for one half of the table of 4’s food, other half waited over 10 minutes afterwards for mediocre food. Shocking will not return to this franchise

Stayed here Saturday for big weekend dundee. Great budget hotel within walking distance of plenty shops and food places. Beds comfy and room Good size and clean. Nice smell in corridors. Good facilities , the lift was out of order but ok for us as we were on first floor. Only issue really was shower which had poor pressure and took a while to heat up. Other than this no complaints. Staff was nice and handy to have pub downstairs for drinks / food. Parking free outside if staying in hotel. Felt safe as need key card for 3 doors before entering your room. Definitely recommend.

Our stay was in general very good, but the only issues we had with the room was the awful smell from the toilet the first night, the second night it was gone. There's also no Aircon, but the windows do open. The room was nice and spacious and clean, though the shower messes water all over the floor. The restaurant/bar downstairs made our stay absolutely worth it. Fantastic food and prices which you have to visit! So all in all a good place to stay.Food & drinks: Absolutely great value and excellent food. You use the QR code and table number to order your food and drinks. The waiters bring it to your table.

Lift out of order, which made it hard for my elderly dad getting up and down multiple flights of stairs. No one on reception, have to book in at the bar. Nice enough room, but incredibly noisy at night in room 106. Our room was on the landing and just heard banging doors all night. Food in the pub was awful. I wouldn't stay again. Only plus really was the room attendants were very friendly/helpful and the room was clean.

Waiter was really kind and friendly. However, extremely annoyed at what happened with my meal. I ordered a cheeseburger with JUST cheese, nothing else. What did I get? A PLAIN burger with ONIONS, MUSTARD AND A HUGE PICKLE. THE CHEESE WAS IN A TUB ON THE RIGHT AND NOT EVEN ON THE BURGER! When we said that's not what we ordered and explain again, the waiter took it back and when he came back out with it, we could clearly see it had just been SCRAPPED OFF!! What a joke! Terrible chef who clearly can't read simple instructions and can't even fill a simple request. Chef needs SACKED!!!They don't even have straws. Absolutely useless waste of a building.
