We always pop into the Open Arms for a birthday lunch each year and we always have the fish and chips as it’s delicious. Today the fish and chips was not quite up to scratch. The fish tasted lovely but the batter was not crispy as usual I think it was sitting for 10 minutes before it was brought to the table. As a chef we are off course fussy but I hope this is constructive feedback. Chips were ok not the usual chunky crispy ones that are always served. Service, drinks and desserts were top notch. Thankyou

Lovely hotel in such a beautiful location, just opposite the Direlton Castle grounds. We sat outside and enjoyed freshly made sandwiches, absolutely packed full of delicious fillings, served with a side salad and tortilla chips. Very attentive staff and food was served quickly. Would recommend.

Have just spent 2 nights at The Open Arms. Fabulous. From start to finish any discerning guest will be impressed. The building is charming, furnishings very comfortable and of high quality. Our room was lovely, spotless, with everything you could wish for. Both dinner and breakfast menus have a good choice. All local produce, excellently prepared. We were made so welcome, nothing too much trouble, everyone was so friendly and positive. A particularly special mention to Duncan and Hannah, real standouts. A thoroughly relaxing stay, some great memories made. Thanks to all

Perfect place for a dinner bed and breakfast night away to celebrate our anniversary. Lovely room, great service and great food in a very picturesque village. Highly recommend it. Thanks for looking after us so we'll.

Old fashioned service with a smile! Just spent a one night dinner, bed and breakfast stay at this lovely hotel for my wife's birthday treat. Absolute gem in my opinion. A bit off the beaten track but well worth the trip. This is an old building that has been sympathetically updated to a high standard, whilst retaining much of it's 'Olde Worlde' charm. Room was spotless as was the en-suite; staff were delightful, attentive and every interaction with them was done with a cheery smile. We opted to take dinner in the Library dinning room (you have a choice of dinning rooms, see their website) and boy was the food fantastic! On the dinner deal you have the choice of three courses and coffee from the al-a-carte menu (no restriction, full menu) and not like a lot of places now were you get 'an allowance' toward dinner per person. Same with breakfast, wide and varied menu, select what you like or mix and match, all table service, none of this 'buffet help yourself' nonsense. I could go on and on, but I think the best compliment I can pay the place is to say, go see for yourself. Compliments to all the staff, well done, you made a special day just that little bit extra special. We shall certainly return!

We came here a week or so ago for a coffee and checked out the menu which we liked. So, today we came back for lunch and were not disappointed. Service was excellent and food was delicious. Waiter confided in us that it was his first day but he did a great job as did his waitress associate. The Library was a very nice setting, looking forward to our next visit.

Never fails to please. Welcoming staff, wonderful decorations in public areas, comfy, well appointed bedrooms, great menus and beautifully cooked food. Pretty good prices too! And, yes, so dog friendly, our dog asking to return.

Well what can I say a weekend of absolute luxury in this beautiful hotel. Brilliant staff giving first class service, the food was just out of this world cooked to perfection by one amazing chef. A breakfast menu with a difference for sure spoilt by so much choice. Set in a beautiful village and the sun was shining just perfect. Will be going back for sure. Thank you so much.
