My sister in law and I ordered a take out Chinese and I drove to the town to get it, I think the interior is fabulous, really clean and something a bit different. There was a slight glitch with the card machine when paying, but the lady I was dealing with sorted it out pronto and was really apologetic and threw in some extra prawn crackers by way of apology. The food was super nice. I had the sweet and sour scallops which were absolutely awesome and tasty and a really unusual thing to offer on a menu - I’d never seen it before but I’ll be looking for it again - and the sweet corn soup. My baby niece also tried one of my scallops and loved it and absolutely inhaled the sweet corn soup. We will defiantly be back :-)

Nice business lunch and good service. We were unable to get a sweet or coffee as the kitchen had closed but apart from that everything was fine.

Belated birthday lunch for partner, booked a table for a sea view. We regard this place as the best Chinese Restaurant for fifty miles around, we go regularly and have never been disappointed. If you like good Chinese food.....go here!Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome as long as moderately tame, it is a public restaurant after all! Based on first floor, just off the main road but parking is a short walk away and free at present.

Visited Helensburgh yesterday, arriving mid day after an hour drive from my home. The Ruby is easy to find as it is situated on the main road from Glasgow towards the Faslane Submarine Base. A family owned and ran Chinese Restaurant. Stepping inside from the main road you find yourself at the bottom of a large stairway which is difficult if not almost impossible to a climb if one of the party is disabled. My wife who is disabled with a degree of mobility did negotiate the stairs on hand and knees, the effort is well worth the attempt. The view out over the River Clyde is startling. The menu offers a very wide selection of meals to choose from, my wife and me selected the the set lunch menu which is good value and my choice was crispy Beef with noodles while my wife chose lemon chicken with fried rice. Excellent choices, thoroughly enjoyable. We spent a considerable amount of time in The Ruby, the co owner is a very charming and interesting person who makes you feel comfortable and relaxed during your visit to this restaurant. A very pleasant dining experience and I will be making return visits with my family. Really enjoyed my time there. On departure the owners and their son made every effort to help us negotiate the descent of the stairs. Thank you for a most enjoyable visit.

Excellent food, really nice atmosphere on the front of Helensburgh. Staff were excellent.Parking: Some spaces at the front, there is not a great deal. Car park across the road at the swimming pool
This restaurant used to be incredible. The food was the best. Not anymore or was an awful experience. Bland food and overpriced. Sadly we won't be back.

Microwaved food cold around edge, small portions, worst special chow ever, cheeky argumentative staff with diabolical service, stressful. It gave me and my friend the trotts.

I went with my wife to The Ruby recently (April 2023) for a belated birthday ? celebration lunch. We have been visiting here for about the last ten years and it has always been excellent. The food is the best Chinese food in the area, we live in Argyll and Bute, and the Chow Mein dishes are really very, very good. Portion size is spot on, dishes cooked to order, fresh. The staff are friendly, attentive and hard working. The wife likes the sweet and sour dishes more than the noodles but that's just preference.
