Their hotel nearly killed me.I was sick with fever and flu due to my cold room. This includes, but not limited to: night sweats, vomiting, nausea, cough, chills, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, loss of voice, fatigue, sneezing, headache, inability to stand for long, and inability to sleep, going to the ER, being prescribed medicine, and being urged to vacate or get warm. The heat was constantly off. I told staff for seven days in a row about my situation and that I may need to go to hospital or die if they keep turning off the heat. And it was turned off again after the fact. I was denied by two different women to turn it back on. I asked for an extra blanket too which I could not get. I had to borrow a blanket and bring it to the hotel. I was there for days unable to leave. I was too weak to travel or check out early. I tried one morning and couldn’t even stand long enough to shower. They refused to refund me. My holiday in Scotland was defunct because I was stuck in the hotel trying to heal and get strong enough to leave. What’s sickening is when I said I was going to end up in the hospital or die, one worker responded, “But did you end up in the hospital or die?!” They kept trying to say I had Covid- all three ladies individually, instead of acknowledging I was cold. I tested negative for Covid. One said a person can’t get sick from being cold. When I educated and informed her what the doctor said, she said she wasn’t in the medical field so she didn’t know. Obviously. Their treatment of customers is sub-human. Run. Don’t stay. I’ve talked to locals who said the staff treats people terribly.

Decided to pop in on the off-chance of a bit of light grub as we were just out for walk; made our way down to the back of the establishment (as there was no-one at the bar or in the area at the top of the building) where we did walk past a waitress who did not acknowledge us, despite being smiled at and saying hello to her. Sat at a table only to have the very same waitress that ignored us come and tell us off for not waiting to be seated and that she would need to move us to another table as the one that we were at was reserved (the place was empty when we arrived). The same waitress then told me off for picking up a specific type of menu (which was freely available around the establishment) and that she would be back to talk us through the actual menu. Then, when we approached the bar to place our order we were told that we would have to wait 10 minutes as the team were switching from breakfast to lunch service and someone would come and take our order. The waitress that initially ignored us and then told us off, ignored us and greeted another couple that came in after us and gave them the full regalia of speil, welcoming greeting, explanation of the menu etc etc. This waitress then also walked past us twice and ignored us both times, not even acknowledging our presence. This was now 20 minutes into our visit. At this point, we left. Shameful, childish behaviour from front of house staff. This was my first time in this place and will NOT be back.

Had a very good festive lunch here today. We had pre ordered our meals and I have to say it made for swift service. As with many hospitality settings this year, they were short staffed but the servers were very pleasant and attentive. Couldn’t fault the food at all, we all had different choices and it was all very tasty and well presented. Well done to you all at The Caledonian, we will be back.

A great place to stay. Massive comfortable beds. Best breakfast selection on our tour around Scotland. Very friendly and helpful team. Thanks

Was out for a meal with friends. Service was really slow despite having staff wondering about and the place being empty. Had long waits in between courses and had to remind them that we would like deserts. Food was average. Found a large hair in our ice cream. Main courses were good however.

We booked here for a last-minute event. We had a meal at the bar and grill, and it was incredible. The menu had a great choice, but with a focus on steaks and burgers. My husband had the ultimate burger, which was so tasty the burnt ends were mouth watering, and the small pan of gravy on the side we both used to dunk our chips.I had the small 8oz rump steak (there was a 32oz tomahawk steak on the menu, but I don't think we could have finished that between us! ) the steak was a little more cooked than I would have liked, I asked for medium rare, it was more medium than rare, but it was very tasty and the skin on rosemary salted chips were so good (especially pared with the gravy on my husband's plate. The wine that was recommended to go with the steaks went down very well. The menu made a few drink suggestions with the food, which I thought was a great idea. The dessert menu was limited but tasty. The sharer platter looked good, but ultimately, we had our own. I had the brownie sundae, which was so decadent the chocolate brownie was so rich it was almost like fudge, the raspberry cheesecake was a lighter dessert, with a lovely shortbread crumb. ?We both had deserts

We were visiting our nephew who recently moved to Leven, we wanted to go somewhere we’re we could spend some time, chat and relax and we have enjoyed meals in Green King pubs. The premises were clean and dog friendly and that is the most positive comments I can say. We were left standing for 15 minutes to be seated. Then seated in bar area so no one came and took our drinks order or food order so went to bar again. We had to alert staff a few other times that elderly people were waiting to be seated for 10 minutes at a time. We were informed that roasts would not be served till 2pm as no staff, kitchen equipment had broke, function on, lack of ingredients. Our nephew had the ribs and he enjoyed them but my self and partner waited till 2pm for roasts and then everything was over cooked so we sent everything back. Manager did come forward and apologise, the lack of information being passed to staff and on to customers was beyond frustrating. We were not charged except for what our nephew had but we did leave honey. I know things can go wrong but that was a catalyst of errors. Hopefully lessons were learned.

The food and drink here is good enough, but I've given the place too many chances to bother going back again now! There's only so many times you can walk into a quiet pub to be either ignored or told "we'll be with you in a minute" then to stand around for ages twiddling your thumbs. I once even went in to have them say "the chef isn't taking any more orders" and there were only like 3 tables in (in a place that has maybe 20-30 tables...???). Something with the management of this place is waaaay off.

Had a birthday lunch here on Monday, great service, nice food and they brought out our cupcakes singing "Happy Birthday" to me and had decorated the plate, really nice touch. Credit to the team ❤

The staff and management at the Caledonian (affectionately called "The Cally" by locals) were the highlight of our stay. They went above and beyond to ensure the comfort of their guests, and we recognized that they ran everything from the front desk to the restaurant, and all in between. Tireless and hospitable across the board! Bravo! The hotel itself is modernized, with clean and well decorated rooms. The duvets were heavenly and housekeeping was a good sport at putting up with us occasionally asking for more biscuits. The showers and washrooms are full of new appliances, with fresh towels daily. The restaurant offers a spacious menu with a large selection of local beer, cider, and wine. Plenty of places to sit. My sister and I ate there once a day and were never disappointed. The prices are reasonable and compare to any other pub/restaurant in the area. The only minor, minor downside was that the Wi-Fi signal was typically hit and miss. We could not access it much in our bedroom but if we stood in the stairwell, it worked fine. Overall, we highly recommend the Caledonian Hotel in Leven and promise you won't regret it!

Great staff - amazing food - nice hotel rooms - highly recommend to anyone doing the coastal fife trail, or any other reason to bring you to Levin. Also, they have quite a few Gins… I’m not complaining. In the small town, this is the place to be - make a reservation
