We always love staying at the crusoe and have enjoyed many visits here. We loved the beautifully appointed spacious suite which is just gorgeous overlooking the sea. The staff are always lovely. We were however very disappointed this time with the menu, the food and the service. The girls at the tables were lovely but the service was extremely slow, especially Saturday breakfast for which we waited almost an hour! The food for the evening meals was of average quality and the menu was not very exciting. After checking out and before heading home we tried another local restaurant and there was no comparison in the service, the variety of fare on the menu and the quality of food. We do hope to come back but please do some work on your menu

Last night was our first visit to the restaurant, the reviews were good and we were not disappointed. As other have mentioned the hotel is in a wonderful setting on the shore, however parking is limited on site and not plentiful in immediate vicinity although there are car parks nearby. The building is well maintained with attractive decor throughout. There is a good atmosphere about the place too. Service and food were very good. The dining area has plenty of room between tables. The service was attentive and pleasant. We had no complaints about the menu or our food when it came. We look forward to returning again soon.

Despite a couple of minor criticisms our stay at The Crusoe was an excellent experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the setting is magical. To be fair we visited during a short period of fantastic weather so the seaside setting was amazing and relaxing. The absence of a shaver socket in the bathroom or bedroom could have been a problem if we hadn’t experienced this elsewhere so had brought a suitable adapter. As Marmite lovers we had to suffer withdrawal symptoms for two days but this ‘pain’ was alleviated by the great food at breakfast and dinner. The availability of free transport to and from the sister hotel in nearby Elie for an evening meal enabled us to experience an alternative seafront setting with equally good service and food. Although parking at the hotel is limited we were fortunate to find a space at all times. The location is convenient for exploring the other harbour villages in the East Neuk of Fife and for St Andrews.

My wife and I visited this hotel today for lunch. This was our first visit but we are looking forward to many more. We were greeted warmly at reception and throughout our visit the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The cosy restaurant is well set out and a great place to have a relaxing meal. There is also a spacious bar where you can eat as well as outside tables. We really enjoyed the food and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. The food was delicious, well cooked and presented. The food was great value for money. The fish pie contained plenty of fish including three large juicy king prawns. The panna cotta was one of the best that I’ve had.

As others have pointed out, the key draw is the location right on the beach. There is nothing more soothing than to drift off to sleep to the sound of waves lapping/crashing literally on your window-step. The bedrooms are well-appointed with all mod cons. but could benefit from a cosmetic face-lift. The contrast between the guests' areas and the public bar is a bit jarring. The bar appears to be trying to appeal to locals with a juke box and pool table but it doesn't quite work.

Oh my days the food here was gorgeous! We’d walked along the coastal path a good way and needed to eat and rest. Chose this hotel as it had a public bar/restaurant and we’re so grateful as we were made really welcome and had a delicious meal. We had haggis Bonbon as an appetiser then husband had ribeye and I had fish and chips (about the 4th time this holiday - the Scots have the freshest fish ever and batter to die for!). It was so fresh and they’ve got a fab chef in that kitchen for sure. The panacotta (?) was beautiful too. Had a few drinks, a good chat with the locals, couple of games of pool and then got the free minibus back to our Campervan - awesome bonus!!! Thank you so much ?

Really lovely Hotel set right on the beach in Lower Largo with amazing bedroom views over the Firth of Forth. Staff were very friendly and service was great. The bedrooms are really appointed, beds and bed linen also of good quality and comfort. The hotel was refurbished quite recently and the investment is there to see. Great little hotel and highly recommend.

This was a return visit to The Crusoe which has been transformed by new owners. The room was clean and bright. Very well appointed with a comfortable and large bed. A new bathroom was complemented with a large walk-in shower. There was plenty of hot water at all times of the day. The food on offer was excellent. The award winning breakfast which showcased local ingredients was plentiful and delicious. The breakfast menu was varied and extensive. Our evening meal, served in the upstairs dining room was also excellent. Again a varied and plentiful menu. The staff in all areas of the hotel are excellent. Friendly, helpful and generally young and full of enthusiasm in serving customers. We will definitely return as this is an excellent hotel in a beautiful area of our country. Well done to the new owners

Lovely hotel in gorgeous location. Rooms have view of the sea and you can hear the waves lapping as you fall asleep. Food in the restaurant is first class, it is advisable to book as can get very busy. Staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend. Look forward to returning.

We've got nothing but compliments to make about our stay. Fantastic location, and when they say they're on the beach .. they are on the beach. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Cozy bedroom, with lots of quirky detail. Nice restaurant and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Atmosphere of a local pub in the bar with juke box and pool. We'll definitely be back .. Great hotel for a romantic getaway !

Room quite small but very neat clean and fresh. Service impeccable, sunny and helpful. 4 o'clock check in a bit late. I suspect most guests would like earlier, but our luggage was taken and we got a call at 3.30 to say room was ready, which was excellent service.

This lovely old hotel is in the most fabulous location. The bedroom was very comfortable with a smart ensuite and lovely toiletries. It was lovely being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. All staff were extremely friendly, professional and efficient. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. If you get a chance to visit here, do.

Fantastic hotel with extremely friendly staff and sublime views. Not just dog friendly but dog welcoming and my two daschunds were able to come everywhere with us ?? and even get a sausage for their dinner! The view of the beach was stunning as was the sound of the waves from the bedroom window. The food was excellent too. I would highly recommend!!

Great 2 night stay. Hotel and staff very friendly - to humans and dogs! Large room with fabulous sea views. Lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. Very comfortable bed, quality linen. Especially appreciated being able to use fire exit for early morning dog walks without having to go through main hotel areas.
