I'm not much of a chips person anyways, but we stopped here on the way home from Stonehaven, and I have to say, the best haggis and white pudding I have ever tasted in my life!! The chips were OK, the place was empty though, and the staff seemed rushed off their feet behind the scenes, the girl who took our order was very flustered. Still... Nothing I could actually complain about, food was great.

Nothing like the old Bervie Chipper ,from the moment we walked in it was very quiet it used to have people in line outside, when we finally got served and opened the box of our haddock and chips burnt offering,I'm afraid wouldn't recommend our suppers went in the Bin .

Absolutely delicious fish supper. Massive portion of yummy fish, in a perfect batter. The chips are darker than most, but that’s the way we like them, not pale and greasy. It’s currently our favourite fish supper in Scotland! Well done ?The view sitting looking over Bervie Bay is spectacular

The Bervie Chipper was recommended by a friend. We travel all over Scotland sampling the various foods available. So on our way back down from Aberdeen we were starving by the time we arrived in Inverbervie. The restaurant was dark, the lights weren't switched on yet.The food was ready in under 10 minutes, was freshly cooked and piping hot.We headed down to the carpark overlooking Inverbervie Bay. (Beautiful)I like my chips to be thoroughly cooked.I don't like peely-wally chips. These were cooked to perfection. The fish was large, fresh and delicious. This was a delightful meal and I am so glad that we came here.I'm still looking for the best fish supper in Scotland. But the Bervie Chipper currently holds the number one spot.Well done.

We were on our way home on Friday evening and I thought let’s stop for some chips as this chip shop used to be good, I knew when I walked in the door it had changed hands, it was bare and such a quiet atmosphere, I must have waited for a good 15 minutes as they put on a fresh portion of chips for me, and I thought oh they will be nice, when I saw the tray when he asked if I would like salt, my face must have dropped they looked so dark and awful, we tried them but they were greasy and blighted potatoes, I gave most of them to the birds before thinking I am going to take a photo and leave a review, which is something I never do. The fryer didn’t look to clean either, he made an effort to be friendly though.Very disappointed, and definitely won’t be back!!

I am used to enjoying going in never again.I was coming down from Aberdeen as we were coming out of Stonehaven and decided to go for chips.I was completely shocked at what I saw. The place was utterly stripped of the buzz it was cold and felt like it was closed.Walked in and not the place I am used to when we used pop in enjoy chips and cash only sign we silly walked to a cash machine to get some money.I wish now we had gotten back in the car and gone to the mobile chip shop that was stopped further along that had heard great reviews. The couple came across as unsure what they were doing in general when we were waiting, and when we got our order, I could not believe the state of the chips. They were not pleasant in appearance and taste at all.My childhood memories of going into the Bervie Chip shop with my family and how amazing the chips and service and what I saw tonight are no longer significant.I do feel the couple is out of their depth and needs help to bring back up to the service people have been used and expect from the Bervie Chip Shop.Sorry I will not be coming back again.I wish we had taken a photo to show how bad the chips were.

The place looked closed nothing in the display and no menu board. Ordered 2 small fish suppers £15 I was told by Asian gentleman Card ?? Cash he said.Off I trotted to the ATM and returned thinking it must be under new management. Got the suppers and they were terrible dark brown chips soft and cold . fish looked like it was heated in microwave with mushy ‘batter’ Not the standard I remember .We ate some but dog refused it !!something not right about Bervie Chipper What’s up ?? Very disappointing..

Am not even rating the food , cos it was absolutely shocking, we ordered 2 fish suppers , waited 40 mins !!! The chips were black & the fish batter was just a pile of soggy mush, my partner was disgusted & disappointed because he’d before years ago & said it was one of the best chippers, I on the other hand gave my food to the dog , even he wouldn’t eat the chips ha ha, the service was terrible, the fryer & counter assistant was foreign & when we asked where our order was after 20 mins she didn’t understand what we said , the queue was out the door with people waiting & several of them asked for a refund cos fed up of the waiting, wish we had but my partner too polite , I would advise people DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, wish I had looked at reviews first , could’ve saved myself £20

Went tonight and can easily state it was the worst fish and chips that I have ever had. It wasn’t that busy but it still took about 1 hour to cook my order of two fish suppers and portion of chips - hardly an unusual or complicated order. The disappointment of the lengthy delay was only exceed by the dismal food that was served. The chips and fish had been vastly over cooked - the chips being a dark brown and had no taste whatsoever . Needless to say we shall not be returning anytime soon.

Worst chippy tea ever spent ages waiting for it which I don't mind waiting so you know cooked fresh and would be good but omg that wasn't the case sausage was burnt black tasted horrible and chips were also over cooked and black waste of money don't recommend at all.

Last night popped in for a fish supper and a Smokey sausage.I thought at 14.50 very expensive however I noticed it looked like nothing was on ..Anyway two other customers came in placed orders the later guy being very aggressive and shouting that nothing was on it’s not a chip do demanded a refund the next guy watched his frozen fish css as he’s being defrosted in the microwave not a good idea showing customers a microwave so he complained rightly so and left .( I went with my rule try everything once but had no confidence)I saw him battering the fish doing the chips he was obviously defensive and hurt so I ran with it .All I can say is put the microwave through the back stick a couple of pies on the hot plate .Your fish chips and Smokey sausage were as good as I’ve ever had .I’m glad I used my rule everything once .I will definitely be back ..,You should have a look at other chip shops and understand what people want to see.Your end product is superior but people need to see a traditional fish and chip shopSee you soon

This chipper has really went downhill from its hey days. Back in the day if you wanted a chipper on a Saturday or Sunday evening you needed be there by 5pm or the queue was out the door, down the street & round the corner with queue times of 50-60 minutes. The chipper was that good & very popular with many making a 60 mile round trip! Those days are gone! The Bervie Chipper is under new management again. In my last review I generously rated this chipper as decidedly average. This chip shop is never my first choice. However we were hungry and thought we’d try again. The new owners have stripped back the menu (I don’t know when they took over so maybe they were still finding their feet. The fish supper portions were huge (fish & a half) the chips were plentiful too. The chips were well cooked (soft & fluffy on the inside) the batter was quite crispy and both the fish & the chips had a brown colour to them. (Too many chips shops serve really pale chips, still hard on the inside. I would call in again. However prices are getting prohibitive and a chipper supper looks like it’ll just be a treat or for a special occasion.
