Great breakfast , attentive and friendly staff. Food fresh and hot. Only one thing, perhaps drain the baked beans off a bit?

Have frequently visited and been pleased but so so disappointed this time, had reserved table by window (for a special occasion). When arrived was ushered to table central in the gloomy area, reason … no booking received for table seat, though booking had been logged on paper. Expressed disappointment and been assured if a window table became available myself and family would be offered it. I was facing such tables, one did indeed become available but no effort was made to offer it. Imagine my disappointment, it is unlikely I shall be back.Parking: Plenty

Lovely building inside and out. Food was great. Staff could do with being more cheerful, the waitress who took our order was nice to be fair, although it would have been good if she knew what a beer of the week was and where it came from. Didn't bring out my side salad and slaw despite confirming with me twice if I was ok with them bringing it out along with my meal. Odd in itself. When it came to paying the lassie at the till made me feel like it was a nuisance for her to stop chatting to her colleague so I could settle the bill. The girl working at the shop barely looked up from her phone to tell us where something we wanted to buy in the shop was.

Good place for a stop off, good food friendly staff, spotlessly clean. Busy place.Wheelchair accessibility: Just have to park sensibly if you need wheelchair access to your vehicle. Must be disabled spots, but must always be full when I've been there.

A lovely cafe that we stopped at by chance. Living close by it’s something we’ve overlooked but we had always heard good things about. After being there today in a confirm that if you’ve heard good things about Hillhouse Cafe, they are true. The atmosphere was lovely, really warm and welcoming, dog friendly too!The staff saw to us right away and took us to a table, we ordered drinks is first; two coffees that came quickly.I ordered the special which was an open BBQ bacon sandwich on sourdough with salad and slaw, it was excellent. My wife ordered a jacket with prawn mayo, again she thoroughly enjoyed it and the Portions sizes were very generous!Great staff, great food and reasonably priced.Absolutely would recommend (even if it’s out your way).

Present cafe.

The shop is not as big or as good as it used to be, the cafe has been extended. Staff seemed a bit frazzled, but the coffee is great. We decided not to have food.

Great place for a coffee and a naughty cake, or full blown meal. Service is always with a smile which makes the rural setting even more pleasant.Parking: Easy to park your car right in front of the cafe

Visited for lunch , both of us had the fish and chips , decent but not overwhelming, reasonable price and decent service … but why o why put hot food on really cold and plates … basic error .

Poor service . Poor quality of food as in not cooked how it was ment . Shocking attitude to constructive criticism. Won’t be going back. First time and will be last time.
