Thoroughly decent local pub. Bar staff are very friendly. Good beer and small but appealing selection of spirits. Great pub if you like to clap a dug. Alas no longer serving food.

I've been going to the riverside for over 20 years, under a number of different owners and it has always been a cracking wee pub. For now, (January 2023) the staff are friendly and well natured. The clientele seems decent and there is pretty much no bother caused by anyone. The restaurant is closed for the moment, but is a great place to get some food and I've heard it will be open again soon.Definitely recommended if you are in the area, best pub in Newmilns by far.

Considering this place is situated in a small village, with few resources and I’ve lived here for a while, I’m a relative stranger to the Riverside.However, I visited with a couple of friends for a quiet drink the other night and received a lovely warm welcome.It was quiet, but the service was excellent and the jukebox kept the atmosphere pleasant without being too rowdy.I know that depending on the night, you can hear live bands and karaoke.I’m planning on returning based on my experience the other night so I guess thats the highest compliment I can make.So don’t be shy. Go in and say hello.

Dreadful ‼️What's happened???‼️ We've been before and it's been ok.Went here for lunch today.1 persons sauce in macaroni had split... inedible ‼️2nd persons meat in steak pie hard as rocks, again inedible ‼️3rd persons scampi dry.4th persons fish & chips... (fish nice)Everyone's chips were cold and hard‼️1 dessert ...sticky toffy pud was hard in the middle. Again inedible ‼️2nd dessert choc fudge cake was fineCoffee tasteless.‼️Yes we were only charged for 2 meals and one dessert so was grateful for thatBUT we went to enjoy a family meal out not to be thoroughly disappointed and not be charged for something that we couldn't eat ‼️TOTALLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ‼️Wheelchair accessibility: Our grandson is in a wheelchair. Not easy to get in but we managed with help.

Was in today , had the 10oz steak, it was perfection, and the waitress was brilliant . ?
Really friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices.We hopped in with the family on the way home, the food was simple but amazing.
Nice bar with great food.
Jaggy Nettle opened up in here. Food lovely.
