Came on a bit of a whim as we like to support independent enterprises. I am almost loathe to share a review as I (selfishly) want to keep it to myself!Service was very prompt, food came quickly.Best parts:ViewsAtmosphereHOT coffeeHOT foodPROPERLY cleaned tablesBeautiful food presentationAMPLE portionsI had the Full Scottish and my husband had a breakfast roll with egg and link sausage. The SOFTEST roll that he wolfed down. The breakfast consisted of blood pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon, wonderful toast, baked beans with tasty garnish. All of it ... ALL of it ... was superb. I shared my breakfast with my husband who agreed. Drip coffee was included in the Full Scottish breakfast price of £13-odd.The atmosphere was relaxed, not too noisy, but not uncomfortably quiet. There was a selection of tables to choose from and the place filled up quickly for the lunch crowd, as we were leaving. We were the tail end of the breakfast crowd. We found the service to be polite, swift, the plates were HOT, nobody hung around to be bothersome, but were there if needed. I just really enjoyed it all.We will 100% be back to try their lunch fare next!

Fantastic place alongside the river Tay underneath the Friarton bridge. Simple menu but should be something to suit everyone.

This was my first visit to Willowgate. I'd heard great things and thankfully most this was accurate. The food and initial service were great. However, around 3pm we were informed that the toilets were closing due to the increasing river levels outside. Fair enough. We were not informed that this meant they wanted to close early.Within minutes, the shutters were being closed, a member of staff sat silently glaring at us, and then the hoovering began. We felt very awkward. We quickly realised that, despite the advertised closing time being 4pm, we had overstayed our welcome. All the good work at the beginning was ruined by grumpy, rude (one member) staff. I'm not sure I'll be back.

Okay coffee and cakes, staff seemed rather unwelcoming when we visited.

Beauty oh a breakfast ?

Not the easiest of cafes to get to in terms of the drive in - I'd probably avoid during peak holiday times as getting in/out can be awkward due to the road set up (nothing can be done about that though). The actual café itself is nice and cosy - feels like a lodge. and is in a lovely setting, looking out onto the River Tay on one side and fishing pools on the other.

Beautiful riverside views and cosy atmosphere to have a bite to eat. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the Haggis and Cheese toastie.Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for gluten free intolerances. Had gluten free bread available.

OKPhoned to check what time breakfast was served until, was told 11.45. Arrived 11.00 to be told only rolls as don't have enough produce to make a breakfast.Man very grumpy.Received open used small jam pot with toast - no apology from grumpy man when asked for another one.On a positive note it was a nice view.Very expensive for what it is.Not sure if we would recommend or return.
