Called in just for lunch on our way to Applecross, just visiting the area with friends. Very friendly welcome, great service, food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would recommend.

We stayed here one night after 5days of hiking an alternative route of the Cape Wrath trail. A beautiful track, but because of Storm Babet also sometimes quite challenging (with extreme wind, snow, rain, and rivers in spate) Arriving in Strathcarron all trains were canceled because of the storm, but luckely for us there was the Strathcarron Hotel. A haven of hospitality, great local food and a comfortable room. We thank Richard, the super friendly owner for his warm welcome and help arranging transport back to our car.Krista and Ruud

Perfectly located just a few miles after the famous Bealach na Bà (Applecross Pass) on the NC500, just when you need to pull in and have a drink... there is no better place to have that drink! We stayed in 9 locations in 20 days (1700 miles) in Scotland - and this place was the only places that made us feel like we were truly in Scotland. The owners and even the locals care, and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. No, the hotel is not a Hilton - so don't expect it. But everything that we would have picked apart in a Hilton - we overlooked here... because this family owned place was just lovely to stay at. If you are expecting a 5 star accommodations as at the Ritz - go somewhere else. This is Scotland, and this place oozes that Scottish charm - the Ritz to us!

Becca and Richard were great hosts, very friendly, hospitable and always happy to have a chat. The booking also included breakfast which was a nice addition.

Stopped here on my Cape Wrath hike and was so glad I did. The family that run the place are absolutely wonderful- Islay, Charlotte, Rebecca and Richard all work so hard to make the place warm and welcoming and their hard work really does show, whether they are out front or working hard behind the scenes to make sure everyone has a great stay. The food, service and room was all excellent and would recommend this stop off to all fellow Cape Wrath Hikers. The warm welcoming atmosphere is so nice after a hard day in the hills and you quickly feel at home. Thanks you lot for a great stay ?

Stayed overnight at the Strathcarron hotel both in July 2022 and June 2023 while on the trail.Richard and Becca were more than welcoming, took in my ressuply packages, and were just lovely to chat with at dinner and breakfast. The food was great and the rooms perfectly clean. It was a pleasure!

The loveliest, friendliest place at a very welcome point in the CWT. Warm welcomes, great food, and a happy atmosphere. Richard, Rebecca and Islay go out their way to be helpful and whether I have camped or stayed in a room, I have had a comfortable night's

What a lovely stay! We stayed here while exploring the isle of Skye — it was about 40 minutes to Skye but was much more affordable than other options. The rooms were appropriate. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly — Richard who greeted us was great! We were invited to hang out in the pub after we arrived, but we’re too tired to accept the offer. We got a full Scottish breakfast in the morning included!

Outstanding hospitality and generosity from our hosts at the Strathcarron hotel. We stayed at the hotel whilst walking the Cape Wrath Trail and when we arrived late, hungry and tired after our long days walk, the owners showed no hesitation in making sure that we were fed and watered. Even the dog got a royal welcome. And we were very grateful for the lift along the main road to save us a last couple of miles on tired legs. We couldn’t have had a better stay. Thank you

The Strathcarron HotelWhat is there to say we stayed there in July 2023, it claims to be 3 stars it’s a no star hotel for sure it is old worn out and very very tired. The room I stayed in had a bed that was about 14” of the floor and very difficult to get in or out of, the sofa was the same we never did get the TV to work, toilet seat was broken. Despite very heavy rain and as you would expect people/us got totally soaked, there was NO heating on, NO way of drying ones clothes. Also to get from your room to the bar/dining area one had to exit through reception area and walk around to the other side of the building to get access even if it was raining (again). I stayed in a similar hotel in Wales it was only £50 per night and I felt robbed the Strathcarron (current price £140) a night is pure robbery. Unfortunately as with all these things you make judgements based on advertising and get booked and when you arrive you find what a DUMP the place is but then you’re stuck. So here’s a heads up folk avoid like the plague or pay the price.I note that there are at this time 252 reviews giving a rating of 4 stars, these are not verified by goggle and there is no way on this planet that, that number of people stayed and found it acceptable so would say that the feed backs are highly questionable. The feedback left by Anne Hicks is spot on so don’t be fooled by the rest.

A big building with alot crammed into it. Pub, cafe and hotel in one the place was clean the staff were as friendly as could be and accommodating to visitors needs. (food after the kitchen had closed) dependent on time of course and not quarenteed,. Room 9 had spectacular view.Rooms: Clean and tidy all the usual amenities, soft bed
