We’ve been at the Royal an Lochan Hotel for three nights. It’s incredibly nice located. We’ve been at room number one and had a really nice view at the lake. The breakfast is absolutely fabulous. There is a buffet with fresh fruits, cereals, croissants and juices. Coffee is freshly made and we always drink ours with oat milk, which was no problem at all. You can also choose from a breakfast menu different egg specialities. They were all great. The dinner is also extremely good, we had different fish dishes and super delicious starters. Whenever you have an extra wish or a question they help you out. The staff is extremely nice, so we can highly recommend this little hotel and the restaurant. The area is also nice. We went for a hiking trip on one day and spent the other day at the beach.

We spent 4 nights here a couple of weeks ago - after making a last-minute booking. We'd dropped in for coffee several times in the past, so we know the views across the Kyle were superb, but this was our first time staying.Eleanor & Greg gave us a warm welcome, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Breakfasts were generous and very well cooked, and set us up for each day. We had a couple of evening meals which were also delicious, especially the venison on the night we arrived! Our room was spacious and comfortable, with the only disappointment being the shower, which was described as "over the bath" but was in fact a hand-held spray (albeit, old-world stylish!). If I had know, I would have paid the extra for a room with a walk-in shower - which was available when I booked, but no longer an option by the time we arrived. But how fortunate we were to have almost a week of perfect, sunny hot weather in Argyll in September!

Before I begin, I would like to thank the manager for all her help during our one-night stay. She was terrific and did as much as she could to help us during our visit. We stayed here on the way up to Skye. When we checked in we were given our room unfortunately the shower was leaking and wouldn't turn off. We were moved to another room, which was great and we were pleased. We found the mattress to be a bit too firm for us (I know people prefer different types of mattresses so it is subjective). The food was OK nothing special. We weren't told about the specials of the day (we didn't even know there were any specials on the menu until another waiter told another table). We were the only ones in the Shinty Bar that night probably because it was a Friday night, but it has a good selection of drinks. It rained during the night, so all we could hear was the rain leaking from the gutter and banging onto a skylight window frame on the flat roof on the ground floor, which was very noisy. Breakfast was OK My wife ordered the porridge there was loads of it and it came in a massive bowl. I had the cooked breakfast I asked for Scrambled but it came with fried. We didn't say anything about it and by that stage, we were ready to go, so we finished and checked out.

Stayed 2 weekend nights in a sea view room, B&B. We really liked this small hotel which was great. Tastefully decorated and fitted out in an individual style, great sea view very large comfy bed with huge pillows, very powerful shower which unfortunately ran cold on my wife but that's a small inconvenience in the context of everything else being very good. Delicious high quality dinner at reasonable price and similarly high quality breakfast- huge Scottish breakfast and plenty of other options. Service throughout our stay was professional and courteous. We will definitely be back

Real genuine welcome. Offered to help with luggage. Bed is huge & we slept well. View was so lovely. It was tempting not to go out for the day. Breakfast & dinner portions were huge. Seafood was to die for. We'll certainly be back one day. We are used to 5 Star chain hotels but this met our expections for a 3 star. I'd say it deserved 3 star plus. Would have been 4 star had it had a lift. Didn't recognise hotel from previous review. We were there the same dates & loved it.

Staying nearby so only visited the bar but lovely staff, good range and stunning location what's not to like. ?

A dump. Dog hair over the carpet. Singing water pipes. No lights in the bathroom. Need to run around in the shower to get wet. The Shinty Bar is a hovel. Will never be back. Room not dusted. How the other reviews extol the virtues of this place is a mystery to me. I would suggest the Trip Advisor team check this place out.

Kyles of Bute Golf Club play an annual match against Cowal Golf club with each having a 10 man team. After the golf we went to the Shinty Bar at the Royal An Lochan for a main course choice of Fish n Chips or Steak Pie. All present were very impressed with the food, service and the warm welcome by staff. Excellent and highly recommend the venue.

This is a really lovely hotel.Staff work hard to create a warm, attentive and welcoming environment. Rooms are great. We stayed in bedroom 3 which we'd recommend, it has a beautiful view and bathroom. Bed comfy and no noise from other rooms which makes for a restful sleep. We stayed for a week, ate in hotel restaurant every night except for one when we went to The Oystercatcher. I can honestly say that food here was better and very good value.Don't hesitate to come if you want a relaxing break with beautiful views and great food.

It was bank holiday Monday and all the other local restaurants were closed. We were very impressed with the staff and the quality of all the food. We will go back again and recommend the Royal an Lochan to others

We are new to this area of Scotland but found its location both beautiful and relaxing. Hotel is right by the water with magnificent views across to Bute. Location is great for exploring fantastic places such as Arran with its dramatic mountains and very interesting local distillery, aswell as the harbour town of Tarbet. The ferry is just a 10 mins drive. Hotel is really welcoming with nicely decorated public rooms and sea facing bedrooms. Bedrooms are so comfortable with quality linens and nice smelling local toiletries. We stayed in room 3 which had a lovely big window and bath. A special mention should go to the restaurant and brilliant chef. Menu was varied and interesting, we stayed for week and each night the food was amazing, especially the fish and seafood options. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. We are sorry to leave.
