After Troon Marine, Seamill and now this place, I only have this advice. This is my Ayrshire, and although I know what to expect from local thuggery, I did think, that paying up to £200 a night, would ensure a raised level of competence and ‘hospitallity’.However, in Troon Marine I was threatened with physical assault by two bar staff, as a disabled 66 year old gentleman. The manager was in denial and would not refund my money, when I discharged myself immediately. The Seamill is run by a passive-aggressive thug, whose best friends, are the Golf Captain brigade: low-brows and inverted snobs. This place, is ‘style and no substance’, which is a Scottish theme nowadays. You would think the Dutch forty year veteran MD, would know that a ‘half’ in Scotland, isn’t a lager, and that hiding behind his desk, when their are bar customers, is not what their tarrif’s justify. But trying to get served here is impossiblle, as the surly staff hide, and when you hunt them down, claim they are ‘stock-taking’.The bar, is only for show, and the padlock ensures you get the message.I am in despair for Scotland and off to warmer climes in the South Seas. Goodbye Scotland and good riddance.Walkability: No walkability here.

Absolutely love this hotel. We stayed in a Mews room. Nicely decorated, loads of space and spotlessly clean. The service is first class. From the warm welcome we got on reception, to the restaurant and breakfast staff, we couldn’t fault anyone - so friendly and efficient and all focussed on great customer service. The food for our evening meal was delicious as was breakfast. Well cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you all for a fabulous stay, we’ll definitely be back.
