A table of eight of us were booked into the restaurant for a special occasion dinner, even though we were the only table in the restaurant we were seated in a dark corner away from the nice sea views. We had to ask for menus and waited approximately 10 minutes, and when we did eventually receive our menus we were not told of the various shortages of food and drink or what the specials were. We did ask for the specials but we were told that there were none. We ordered chicken, pollock and a Sauvignon wine but were then told that there weren’t any of the above. The pollock dish was replaced with cod but no price was taken off this dish for the substitution of fish. When the fish plate was handed over it was scalding hot and burnt one of our guests hands - so much so that he had to go to the bathroom to run his hands under water. There was no apology given by the staff. The service was incredibly poor considering we were the only table in the restaurant - we waited over 10 minutes to receive drink orders each time we ordered and had to remind the staff on multiple occasions. The majority of the food ordered was very nice, however the mussels were cold when served which was disappointing. Overall a very disappointing and overpriced experience!

For a relatively new opening everything was working well, staff were helpful and efficient, the renovation is to a high standard and the dinner/lounge drinks experience was first rate. We would certainly return - especially for the burrata and heirloom tomato salad!

Great stay at the Gorgeous Marine Troon. Beautiful hotel and swimming pool. The best thing about the hotel is the incredible staff though, they were all friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful one. Thank you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had a lovely weekend spa break with some friends. Beautiful hotel, great food and lovely spa and pool. The view from our room faced the golf course and beach which provided an amazing backdrop. All the staff were so friendly, I wish I could have stayed longer.

We had an overnight spa stay at The Marine Hotel on 2nd July. Unfortunately we arrived a little harassed and very slightly late due to a work issue my partner was dealing with. We were welcomed at reception by Lynne and Joan who put us right at ease. We’d called en route to explain that our spa appointments were at 15.30 hrs fortunately the reception girls notified the spa staff that we’d be a little late. Both ladies were friendly, thoughtful and efficient. Our room was beautifully decorated and spacious though sadly our view was over a rather noisy kitchen or laundry area rather than a sea view…..maybe next to time! My partner and l found the spa treatments to be very relaxing. We both opted for a back / shoulder massage and facial. Both therapists, Kerry Ann and Danika, were friendly and knowledgeable about the products they use. The spa surroundings were very nice and clean. The whole spa experience was very relaxing. Our dining experience was a bit mixed. One starter was served lukewarm. Our waiter misheard our request for sparkling water and gave us still. Unfortunately our bottle of white wine arrived warm. We eventually had the bottle replaced. The new bottle was placed in an ice bucket. Both our main courses were lukewarm and had to be sent back. However the Manager and another waiter dealt with things efficiently so the meal was saved. Just one comment about the cheeseboard which at £12 could’ve been presented a bit more aesthetically pleasing. There were two cheeses, one blue cheese and one very large slab of mature cheddar. Perhaps a smaller portion of the cheddar and the addition of another couple of cheeses for variety along with some fruit and chutney would’ve made for a significantly better cheeseboard. It would also be a lot more appetising. Overall we had a nice stay in this lovely hotel. The staff were very nice and friendly. We hope to visit again soon.

This hotel has recently reopened and the result is a stunning, luxurious yet cozy destination that was ideal for our anniversary weekend. The views over Royal Troon golf course are spectacular, the food was delicious and the spa treatment pure delight. Personally I can’t wait to get back to make more use of the pool and steam room.

I was told several times they were short staffed. No fried eggs at 10am first morning, waiter was rude “I knew it had to be fried eggs you would want” was his response. Cheese and biscuits were inedible the chutney was just awful - waited 20min for a glass of wine by which time me dinner was finished- day 2 breakfast was a shambles - overbooked so I had it in the bar. Asked for coffee 3 times breakfast was finished when it came- exceptionally poor service. Not a patch on staff at Russacks.

Really enjoyed our overnight stop, lovely hotel, very friendly staff and dogs allowed too. Limited options for vegans, but staff tried their best to accommodate us, hence the five stars. Would recommend.

Fantastic stay at the newly refurbished Marine in Troon. The customer service was excellent throughout - from a smooth and efficient check-in, to service in the bar and restaurant. We also really enjoyed the spa treatments. Would definitely recommend!

Been lots of 'intriguing ' online adverts about the expensive and extensive refurb of the once-fabulous Marine. So, it seems to be reopening in stages. A friend and I visited this week. When we went into the bar/lunch area, we met a total mishmash of styles, colours, patterns, low uncomfortable chairs and ugly wooden chandeliers. Nice, friendly staff brought a limited, slightly strange lunch menu. Having both ordered what sounded like an extensive Scottish cheese platter, what we got was: 2 slivers of dry cheese, a few supermarket oatcakes (no butter), a slice of what looked like dog poo (pressed date?), and a tiny twig with 4 roasted grapes. That's the lot. Sent it back and even the waitress agreed it was horrible. The fish and chips alternative was nothing special. As a child, the gorgeous Marine, right at the beach, was a big family favourite. Yes, it had deteriorated and begun to look very rundown in recent years - but this partial rehab ( the leisure centre is still being refitted) is a real disappointment. Oh, and the dicey to walk on c6oncrete floor in reception was dirty.

FIRST note the 10% discretionary service charge, if you ask they do take it of but do this as you order everything. Having been recently renovated hotel is fresh. This hotel is pricey in food and drink as your would expect from a golf hotel. Also many makes of drinks are not available behind the bar i.e.. Smirnoff. If you can get a deal to stay it is a nice experience. Noticed many quest at reception trying to upgrade to a bigger room. We had a room in a modern extension at the back not the biggest but more than comfortable. Some of the décor in the public area's is of an older style in keeping with the age of the hotel so will not be to everyone's taste. If treating yourself it is a nice stay as staff are all friendly and helpful and food is very good.
