Got my first fish supper a couple of weeks ago and can honestly say was one of the best I’ve tasted. Cooked fresh - chunky tasty fish in a beautiful crisp batter and a very generous portion of chips. ??

Under new management, the premises have benefitted from a complete clean up. Rodger is an excellent frier and the atmosphere was happy and exciting. Rodger uses authentic cooking fat to bring out a real taste in the chips and other food. He also owns the Cafe on Ritchie Street so this is a big boost for the village. Negative reviews here are clearly based on previous owners. Well worth a visit, excellent value with a great selection of food fried on the spot. Also has vegetarian options. Recommended.Vegetarian options: Fried in a separate frier using vegetable oilsWheelchair accessibility: On the level of- Main Street access

It's been a while since I last visited the village chippy and think it will be another while if I ever do decide to eat from here again.Was so looking forward to a nice chippy tonight but got the opposite as the food especially the chips were disgusting, the taste from them were repulsive which I put down to not changing the oil , there was even a horrible smell coming from them.Definitely wouldn't recommend.

The girl serving was very pleasant. The food was shocking. Worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish had obviously been cooked hours before. It was like eating leather and I can still taste the cooking oil the next morning. The chips were dark, greasy and rock hard. Straight in the bin. Total waste of money I'm afraid. On a scale of 1 to 100 this was a 1.

Popped into the local chippy for some chips which ended up in the bin. Covered in grease and the chips smelled of old oil. It's a shame that this place isn't managed better.

Save yourself the money and go elsewhere. Easily the worst food I’ve tasted from a chippy.Filthy, greasy inedible and no amount of salt you drench them in can disguise the fact you’re not changing your oil. Straight to the bin yet again
Absolutely disgusting, dirty oil and chips soaked in grease, won't be back. Needs better management.

If only the actual meals you got resembled the pictures advertised! That’s three times now we have collected meals from here (trying to give the benefit of the doubt) but given the cost of living crisis we are no longer going to be ordering food that goes directly into the bin. Don’t think the frying oil has been changed in a very long time, chips are cooked at wrong temperature and I can only assume drenched in so much salt to try to disguise the fact. How this place has survived a pandemic is a mystery. Worked in a chip shop for 4 1/2 years and we would have shut down serving food this awful

I got to the shop as they were closing for the day, but they couldn't have been nicer. I even got two fish for the price of one! The fish and chips were really tasty. I'll certainly be back!

I’m not one for leaving reviews but oh my…please for the sake of your business do the basics right and clean your oil daily and fry at the right temperature so your food isn’t saturated in grease! I would love to see a local business thrive, but you won’t last long unless you work on the quality. I won’t be back I am afraid which is very unfortunate!!
