Proper old fashioned pub. Salopian beer kept to perfection and given that there was initially standing room only suggests the other drinkers agree. Powell's pork pies served with pickle or mustard (or both) are a delight, possibly better than Paddy Ryan's? Try one yourself!

Great food, portions just right, staff very helpful. Recommend the menu. Cater a few main meals for vegetarians. Nice environment and atmosphere. Menu gives enough choice but not overwhelming. Offer small portions too as well as standard portions and kids menu options. Good choice of background music and not too loud. Had minor problem with one of our drinks and staff sorted it quickly and without question. Prices good....about £9 to £10 per main meal and worth it. Puddings £5 to £6. Drinks/alcohol not too expensive either. TV with clips from Red Bull sporting action (quite interesting even for those not into sports like paragliding, BMX etc) plus pop up general knowledge trivia questions. Good to sit and watch on your own in the corner, or as a talking point for a meal.Vegetarian options: Noodle and veg Chinese style dish. Options to add chicken or mushrooms. A few other options. Think there was a kids vegetarian macaroni cheese option.Parking: Small free car park available at the ear of the pub. We went for Sunday lunch in November and there was plenty of parking.

Great local now that it's operating "normal" hours! 2 local handpulls plus Beavertown on pillar tap. (Not yet sampled the menu.)

This is a much improved local pub with good food and friendly service, under new managementI had a nice gammon and chips and peas, a crumble, and a large coke for £11.05. At this point in time, that's an incredible bargain! It's neat and tidy, has a pleasant garden, and a good selection of light bites and a main menu, both available lunchtime and for dinner.Support this small pub, especially if you are a local! You will be pleasantly surprised!Parking: Parking is round the back

An awful visit to this pub yesterday. It was my birthday and I had a list of recommended restaurants and pubs, this pub was near to our location and the google reviews looked decent so we thought we’d try it. Unfortunately the Three Fishes pub I’d been recommended was not this one, it was in fact one in the town centre, I didn’t realise there were two!We walked into the pub and there was a guy cleaning out the chimney which was very noisy. There was no one else in the pub apart from us. We asked if they were serving food and told they were. We sat the other side of the pub away from the chimney cleaner but it was still very noisy. We ordered hot food which took an hour to be served. At this point we were already wanting to leave. There was an odd smell in the pub, not very pleasant. The food arrived eventually. The person who served us did apologise for the delay as there was a new chef and there’d been issues in the kitchen. My parents both ordered the chicken parmo. The tomato sauce was cold and the dish looked very unappetising. They picked at what they could and left most of it. My husband’s burger was supposed to have pulled pork and nacho cheese on it, he couldn’t see any pork and here was a tiny amount of cheese. We’d had enough so we went to leave, we couldn’t get out of there quick enough. We went to settle up and I said how disappointed we were with the food and the person behind the bar just said sorry and continued to charge us the full amount, with no offer of compensation.A very disappointing end to my birthday trip to Shrewsbury. I do not recommend.

The propritor was a very nice, friendly young man, enthusiastic and full of ideas to make the business work. I hope many people will visit his pub ? to make it a prosperous business. ✌️?
