In our familie holiday we ate here twice. One time for dinner and one time for late Sunday roast. Both times it was very good!

Decided to come here for an impromptu meal on Saturday as seen a lot in social media and it looked decent.I want to say, the staff were really pleasant and nice and the service was decent.I went for the Exmoor food fest menu and my mate ordered off the normal menu.I had the kedgeree took a while to come but that's fine it's a Saturday so expected that, the kedgeree whilst it looked more like a Biryani tasted ok and was a big portion, the boiled egg on top though was absolutely horrific, hard boiled and the yolk had a really thick layer of grey around it. Come on chefs, 7 minutes to boil an egg, this was overcooked and then overcooked again on top of that. For main I had the shepherd's pie, the description promised a lot, again after a little while it arrived, to be honest, it didn't really taste of much, the potato that topped it had clearly been overboiled when making the mash as it was quite wet without much flavour and the crust of the pie was way overcooked, in fact I'd say it was at that stage just before being burnt, the gravy, again just really watery and not much substance to it at all, quite disappointed with that really.Dessert, I had the banana & vanilla souffle, in all fairness, this was excellent, I don't like banana but love a souffle so thought I'd give it a try and it was delicious. It was much the same for my mate, starter and main not excellent but the desserts were cracking.

The sausage meat was tender, the egg just the right measure of slight runniness and, in fact, it made a nice change from all those other Scotch eggs gastropubs serve, that are laced with black pudding, or haggis and other louche seasonings. Me and my friend then had a fabulous dish of thin asparagus, charred and with a crumbed duck egg on top.

We were a little taken aback by the prices charged for 8oz steak (£32) but it was our anniversary and we pushed the boat out. I am so glad we did. It was the BEST steak meal I have ever had anywhere! Amazing flavours and tastes throughout the meal. The steak was cooked in a Josper oven. It was succulent, cooked perfectly and tasted like nothing else! It was served with creamy mushrooms, vine ripped tomatoes and chips - all bursting with their own flavours. The side salad was out of this world. Strange to say given it's a side salad. But I can honestly say everything complimented each other. I never left a morsel and didn't mind paying the price on the menu at all!We will be going back in January for my birthday for sure!

What a fantastic evening. The bar staff were great with service efficient and polite. The drinks were fabulous and the beer well kept. We were taken to our seats and handed menus and after choosing from the menus the servers took our orders. Food came out at a lovely pace all hot and very tasty. Mains came out equally as good and had a delightful meal. The chef greeted everyone in the restaurant later on into the evening who was also the owner, asking if we enjoyed the food and experience it was a lovely touch. After talking to him about the beers that were on that week, I was even treated to an extra half pint. We all left feeling very happy to have experienced such a lovely place. This is a must place to visit with booking an essential.

Our Sunday roast was THE BEST EVER! We had roast beef (cooked in or marinated in treacle). It just, literally melted in the mouth. No kidding. I’ve never tasted anything like it. The accompanying veg were fantastic too - an enormous plate of heaven! Visit this place when you’re in the area - or make a special visit even if you’re not! Well worth it

Had a fantastic meal here at the weekend. The food was excellent, the service was both enjoyable, courteous and engaging. The atmosphere was lovely, the bar staff and waiting staff very conversational and made a fantastic effort to make all customers in the pub and restaurant feel comfortable. We had the Lamb Kebab and Chicken Sharwarma which was a perfect portion size, flavours were excellent, and presentation was good.Desert was the Run Baba l, which we haven’t had for a long time. You could definitely tell all of the food was freshly prepared and made by the chefs, not bought frozen like some other pubs in the area.Wine choice was excellent as well.Certainly not the cheapest evening, but most deservedly matched the food quality, staff engagement, surroundings and experience.Well worth a night out
