We visited the Poppe Inn for a family dinner, and it was a lovely pub with delicious food! We had the lamb shank and the gravy was delicious. Lovely people running the pub, we will be back for dinner again. Thank you

I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but I really can't write anything but a negative one. At the entrance, you're greeted by very stinky gents loos with the door open, complimented by numerous flies. This should probably have been a warning sign, but we'd been unable to get a table anywhere else at short notice on Friday night. The bar was sticky and generally pretty grubby. Anyway ...we decided to risk it and ordered food from the fairly basic menu. Our already limited confidence was shaken when the table next to us had to call the waitress back as their lasagne was still frozen! I ordered drinks in the meantime, all of which came in dirty glasses. The food arrived ...one child's sausage and mash was fine. Another child had some mozzarella sticks, which were cremated. I went rather optimistically for a stilton and mushroom bruschetta....it was half a baguette with fried mushrooms, microwaved to melt some stilton on top. Edible, but not enjoyable. We didn't risk pudding and left as soon as possible, and the experience was summed up by the minder like waitress standing behind me saying "Don't worry, I'll wait" sarcastically while rolling her eyes! The saving grace was that for 4 of us to eat, and our drinks, it only came to £32. I would suggest avoiding.

The welcome and service from this beautiful character pub could not have been better. The standard of the food was superb and all locally sourced. Would thoroughly recommend it for couples and families.

Nice old place with fantastic kitchen... Fish & chips named Catch of the day is the best I've tried.

Wow, what a lovely lovely place and amazing lunch, the sausage baguette was superb and both the landlord and landlady were so friendly, our best find in Somerset to date.
