Went for my 31st, the pub itself is really cosy with a real fire as you enter. The food was gorgeous, amazing roasts and can't recommend more !!The cauliflower cheese itself is worth another visit ! ?

Delicious home cooked food. Warm and attentive staff. Lovely rural setting. Dining room warm and welcoming. Definitely going to return.

Another family meal here - birthday sunday lunch. The staff were lovely and service was good..food was tasty ..its just a shame it was served luke warm. Plates cold, food lukewarm....people next to us sent their dinner back as it was cold. We had to wait a while for food to be served which the staff apologised for but just not warm when it finally arrived. So why didnt we say anything?.....because we were all absolutely starving and it was a birthday meal and we didn't want to make a fuss...Also despite being pre-warned it was a birthday celebration and promised a recognition of this (birthday platter) nothing at all was forthcoming. On discussing this with barstaff on paying the bill absolutely no recognition of the above was forthcoming. Sadly family members decided they will not return.. ...Note to kitchen....don't serve lovely food lukewarm....and don't say u will acknowledge a celebration when you don't! Sorry guys...I know you work hard but a real let down on this occasion.

We enjoyed a very nice evening meal here last week. They have an excellent 'specials' board which included a 'fish of the day'. In fact, my husband opted for the Hake. I chose the gammon steak. Great service, served with a friendly smile. Attentive, efficient staff. A talented chef too, as the food was perfectly cooked, tasty, and well presented. We've been in here before and they are consistently good. The desserts were mouthwatering delicious. I particularly enjoyed the tiramisu cheesecake ... Wow! It was sublime. They have good local ales.I'd advise booking in the bar areas as for me, it's nicer than the main dining area. It feels cosier and more intimate. Horses for courses though.Well priced.Next time, I may try one of their award winning pies.Rooms: Didn't use, so not rated.Food & drinks: Excellent. Highly recommended. You can't go wrong at the Anchor in my view.Noteworthy details: Cosy bar areas by fireplace.

Didn't stay so can't rate the rooms. Food wonderful, and superb customer service. Staff genuinely interested in customers and couldn't be more helpful. Excellent food at really reasonable prices in this current economic climate. Highly recommended a visit.

WATCH OUT - The Anchor Inn, Hillfarrance, Taunton TA4 1AWoperate strict cancellation conditions which cost me £255. These conditions are not on their website & it's not until you have booked your accommodation & paid in advance online that you get a booking confirmation which details their cancellation conditions.6 days before I was due to stay at The Anchor Inn my husband was diagnosed with cancer so I phoned them to cancel my booking. I also emailed them a letter from my local hospital confirming my husband was 'undergoing active treatment' so was not fit to travel.Their response was unless they could rerent my room in the meanwhile their 30 day cancellation policy would apply. They did not offer me the option of rebooking my stay at a later date when my husband may be fit to travel. They did not rerent my room so I lost £255.Most hotels operate a 24 or 48 hour cancellation policy. In my view given my circumstances their cancellation conditions are neither fair nor reasonable. So BEWARE The Anchor Inn & their cancellation conditions.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. The beef was done to perfection and my wife had great gluten free options. Good service and a lovely pub.

Really nice restaurant/bar in the countryside near Taunton. Food was tasty, service was excellent, and they catered really well for kids with an outside play area, and Lego and colouring on the table. Very impressed, will be back!!

First time back since COVID and the quality of the food is as good as it always has been. The ale was also well looked after. The staff were excellent. As it is local to family we did not stay so cannot comment on that side of things. I left the stars blank on the review assuming this means that this score will be ignored by Google.

Great friendly staff, food is amazing! pina colada cheese cake is to die for. Nice location and very peaceful. Would highly recommend. From having many pubs in my family business I will have to adapt this place into some of my own.
