We have just enjoyed a lovely meal at this new Italian restaurant. I had the wild mushroom risotto and the better half had the cannelloni. Both were excellent dishes. Desserts were equally good Service was friendly and efficient. Pricing was not unreasonable for the quality of the food. Well worth a visit if you like authentic Italian.

A large family group of 25 ( including 9 children) arrived with great expectations for a memorable Christmas Dinner … and we were not disappointed!! The food was excellent ( I had the best steak I’ve had in years ) The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were still smiling at the end of a long shift in a very busy restaurant! We were advised that we would have to vacate the restaurant at 5.00pm but were still there long afterwards , with no pressure to leave Above all they seemed genuinely pleased to serve us and ensured we all had a good time We will be back ….. but not all together!!

We had a spontaneous date night and il basilico did not disappoint ? We would highly recommend if you like Italian food and a romantic atmosphere

Having visited more than half a dozen times now I am happy to report standards remain high, good atmosphere, great service, superb quality food, all presented well and cooked to perfection. Excellent selection of dishes to choose from we have ordered a good selection of dishes now and nothing has dissapointed.

A little gem. Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly staff, especially our waitress Abby who definitely knows how to read a room and was lovely. Food to die for. Every starter, main and dessert for the three of us was perfect. We will definitely be returning.

Had plenty of great Italian meals in here over the past 12 months so thought we’d try the Sunday roast on a wintery day and it didn’t disappoint! Warm, comfortable restaurant with very friendly staff. Service was excellent and the roast beef was beautiful. A good selection of veg with the meal and gluten intolerance well catered for. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends and family , just brilliant !

Not an authentic ItalianFritto misto as starter was good albeit small - definitely not the usual size of such a plate.Pizza toppings were great but base felt like it came out of a freezer pack.Tiramisu a disaster. Full of cream, no taste of mascarpone - if you know the difference, you know!

What a gem of an Italian restaurant tucked away in the heart of Monkton. Every member of staff went above and beyond to ensure we were catered for and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be returning!!
Really nice atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and service was quick. Food was lovely and the price was more than reasonable. Will be going again for sure.

All the food was so delicious! But my husbands two dishes he had; the steak tartare and The Pork belly, dauphinoise potatoes, apple and crackling with an amazing jus.... was just *chefs kiss* We will definitely be back again soon!@ilbasilicomonkton

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the AirBnB that we were staying in the village and what a recommendation. Such friendly staff, delicious food and a really relaxing atmosphere. We shared a simple but fantastic starter, followed by the gnocchi and the lamb which was so tender and juicy. My husband couldn’t resist the tiramisu which he said was out of this world. Big shout out to Abbie who was attentive fun and super helpful.

We have been here multiple times and it never disappoints. All of the staff are extremely friendly, especially the manager. Food is always excellent, especially the lasagne and pizza and their wine selection is extensive and again, delicious. Very friendly and accommodating restaurant with a great atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.

Had a family meal here. Fabulous food, it would be a challenge to take in all the different aromas and not eat something. Everything we had was really good. Lovely atmosphere and attentive but discreet staff. Make yourself happy - eat here, you'll love it!!!
