Would normally give 5 stars for memsaab!!! A busy night when I went with 2 friends and they did squeeze us in hence a 5 for service guys were great hence a hefty tip left !! But the food was bland and tasteless I'm putting that down to a late booking and busy night as the several occasions I've been before food couldn't be faulted !! Just n off night !!

Eating out in Yeovil can be a mixed bag, but Memsaab is a bag full of many great things. From the fantastic food to the friendly service, myself and my group had an amazing Friday night here and will be visiting again very soon. Totally recommend!

Working away I thought I would continue the ‘Curry Tour’ and try the X in Yeovil. The restaurant is a short walk from the centre of town. I hadn’t pre-booked but when I enquired if there was a table for 1 available, I was told to wait by the bar. A few minutes later I was shown to a table and there was only one other couple in the entire place, so no idea what the waiting about was in aid of. Ordered poppadums and it came with a pickle tray (which I didn’t actually ask for but got charged for). The poppadums were crisp and relatively fresh, but certainly not freshly cooked. The pickle tray was odd in that it had 2 different types of onions but no riata…. …strange comparison to other restaurants. The waiter (the same one who ‘greeted’ me) certainly seems to have had a personality transplant and could only be described politely as ‘solemn’. I ordered a veg Balti, side of matar paneer, veg rice and a cheese naan. I was told the Balti only came with a plain naan. The food arrived shortly after and was missing the rice and I then had 2 naan breads arrive, 1 plain and 1 cheese. After much raising of eyebrows by the staff and discussion, to save any further aggravation I said I would just pay for both naans! I waited for the rice to then arrive. The Balti actually wasn’t too bad and the rice and (multiple) naans were OK. The matar paneer tasted of plain baby food and was left, along with lots of naan bread! During the entire meal the waiter hung around the bar area and was listening to foreign football loudly on his phone. Wonderful ambiance! I paid a non-too-cheap bill and left. Its unlikely that I will be back in Yeovil anytime soon and its very, very unlikely I would return to this restaurant. My advice is to go and try somewhere else where the waiting staff actually might give the impression of caring about customer service.

In Saturday night with work colleagues, the gents toilets could benefit from a drop of bleach! Food was ok, overpriced, £7..99 for bottled sparkling water, really!? We won't be back

Initially thought it looked quite expensive but when the meals turned up there was so much and it was soon tasty. First time here and will definitely return.
