As this restaurant had a refurb and a name change to Wazwan we walked by it a few times before asking a local and being pointed in right direction, at which point we were glad we found it, the staff were friendly and helpful the decor was clean and well presented. The food was absolutely superb and for a Tuesday night it was very busy which goes to show how popular this place is. Highly recommend this place. Asaf our server was extremely friendly and helpful and explained the dishes to us in detail

Took me a while looking for this place, then I figured out it has changed to “Wazwan”.I ordered biryani and butter chicken. Loved the butter chicken, very flavourful! But the biryani was pretty ordinary. The pink tea was also okayish.Nans were fresh. The presentation was 10/10+ the staff was very humble and nice ?

Fantastic good. Menu different to other z Indians and that was great. Dishes like tuna potato and the lamb shank were just outstanding. Service superb and very helpful waiter. Cocktsil lacked a bit of an alcoholic kick. We will be back.

Now changed name to wazwan. Visited after poor experience in another restraunt so had not pre-booked. The restraunt was busy with it being Saturday night but they were able to seat us immediately. Menus given straight away, and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived within minutes. Staff were all friendly and able to answer any questions we had regarding portion sizing and allergies. Food arrived quickly, and was really nice. Staff noticed when drinks were empty and came over nearly straight away to ask if more was needed. Nice and clean inside and well distances from other tables. Food portions are quite big- when we go again we would share a curry and rice between 2 of us, and then have more sides. Food ordered; Poppadoms and pickle tray to start Hyderabādi Chicken and Lahsen chicken 2x pilau rice 2x onion bahjis 2x garlic naan Once finished asked if anything else was wanted, or if we wanted to take food home. Asked for bill and card machine, once again returned within minutes. All food was really nice, and just like the photos on the website. Amazing service and very good service and staff. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Never left a curry in a curry house ever, until this evening. The service was pretty good but the food was mediocre to bad, the accompaniments to the poppadoms - specifically the mint dip, was just tasteless and lumpy. The chicken afghani I had tasted as if it was something I could of got out of a jar at home and made, and the rice was so close to microwave rice it must of been. It had that distinctive smell and taste. The garlic naan was just buttered all over and it didn’t taste of anything but butter. Overall I would advise avoiding, it could of just been a bad night. But I would not visit again. I did complain but it fell on deaf ears so we split the bill and left.

My abiding memory of our visit to Aagrah on 23rd January was the 70 minute wait for food. The menu was much reduced since our previous visit and I was especially disappointed in the reduction of vegetable choices. There could also be an option for non sugary, non alcoholic drinks although the tap water was absolutely fine. The prices had gone up considerably since we last visited before lockdowns . My wife's salad was eye wateringly dull. However, we did enjoy our meals and the staff tried to be helpful. But I think in future we will stick with Spital Hill/ The Wicker for our "curry" type meals. I would also suggest the management decide on the name of this place as there is no mention of "Aagrah" from the outside which made us uncertain where we were going . When we rang for a booking the person picking up the phone said, "Aagrah".

This restaurant chain was never the finest out there, but it was often very good. Their menu was brilliant and varied - lots of choice. They made perhaps the best chicken liver out there when it came to the marinade. Now you go and the menu is a tiny fraction of what it was, plus 99% of the starters are accompanied by the same “lame” salad. One cherry tomato, a few pieces of raw onion and lettuce. Don’t get me wrong, I love salad, but this was something I’d simply give a rabbit (maybe minus the onion). Their idea of an onion bajji is now basically an onion ring… They are very clearly cutting corners whilst trying to pretend they have gone upmarket. The prices are not by any means extravagant- but they are not worth the asking price either. Checkout the Fish starter at £6.50 - you get a tiny sliver plus the rabbit tosh. The reduced main course menu in relation to the previous is not exciting, it’s very average at best and lacks variety. Whilst what ordered tasted quite okay, it wasn’t enough to remotely remove the feeling of disappointment. One bottle of sparkling water plus 3 poppadoms coming to £8.55 alone seemed rather ridiculous given the very small pickle tray, again not nearly as good as it used to be. To cut it short, it will be the last ever trip we make to Agrah, it’s lost everything that made it good. There are far better places to go and find some decent Indian cooking - most places in fact.

Absolutely packed on a Saturday night before Xmas and the 5 staff serving were excellent. No delays, correct orders and attentive, which in the circumstances was outstanding. Very friendly and explained everything too. This is now Wazwan, but run by the same family as Aagrah and the same chef. Drinks reasonable and cobra on draft was great. Tables set well and starters were great. The onion bhajis looked like pakora, but were good. Mains were less choice than am used to, but staff explained the chef could do practically anything if we wanted a particular meal. 4 different mains were very good and two of us had good spicy food, whilst the other 2 said theirs was ok but not fantastic. Service excellent and close to a 5* review, but the food just let it down a fraction. Good location, great staff, great draft beers and good food. Will be back ??

Went to wazwan last night. Another brilliant visit. The food is great, staff pleasant and attentive..our friends who had not visited thoroughly enjoyed it too. We had 3 different curries all very tasty and full of chicken. Rice naans great. Starters also good. I like that they have different curries on, not your usual indian curries. We will be back.

I found this first experience to be quite disappointing. Staff told us there was a buffet service, only to arrive and find out that it was untrue. Nevertheless ordered food from the menu. Wasn’t impressed with both quality of food and pricing. The noise was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. Won’t be going back.

*DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY* Where to begin, so online still shows as aagrahs, the telephone number listed as aagrahs, the sign in the square listed as aagrahs. The sign on the restaurant was Wazwans called aagrah as stated on the website, asked if it was aagrahs, they said yes it is. We told them we wanted a buffet for 11 people they said yes no problem we were led to believe it was £10pp so we paid £110 before going. Once we got there we noticed it was no longer aagrahs wasn’t told this prior to getting there, there was no buffet. None of us wanted to be there as the menu was very poor and the whole point was the buffet option. We asked for the money back to be told it was a deposit to book the table and is non refundable. This was not communicated before hand. The staff admit that it was there fault for not informing us but we wouldn’t be able to have a refund. Once ordering the food as we had no other choice it took ages to come our evening was already ruined by the terrible service but we’re expecting the food to at least be fantastic considering the price and the limited menu. The food arrive, oh my how awful the food was. The worst curry I had ever had I ordered a lamb madras which was yellow, yess yellow I have never had a yellow madras before. It consisted of two spices, curry powder and tumeric that’s it (this is why it was yellow) and only 3 pieces of lamb which wasn’t tender at all. Tasteless food and it looked like baby poop it was that yellow. Not one of us could find a positive about the food except my son who enjoyed the chicken nuggets. The biryani was perfumey. My son had chicken nuggets and chips as the menu was that limited we couldn’t even get anything for him. Even my 6 year old didn’t like the chips. How on earth can you get chips wrong. I cannot believe this place is in business. It wants shutting down poor service poor food. Go to Akbars instead of literally anywhere else.

Didn’t realise they’d undergone all the changes when I turned up. Started looking through the menu and wondered where the rest of it was! It felt so limited and had none of the usual things I’d get when going out for a curry. Felt very style over substance. The curry itself just tasted so bland. Not bothered about going back now even though it was usually the stock choice for a curry in the city centre.
