If you are a vegetarian or vegan there is not many options and what they do have is poor! The Vegetarian/Vegan roast option was a 3 inch slice of barely cooked Celariac and it was a £1 more than the chicken or ham meat eaters option! Very disappointing.

We've been to The Cricket twice this month for Sunday roasts and both times it's been absolutely impeccable. Delicious food, quick and friendly service and a brilliant atmosphere. We'll be coming back soon!Kid-friendliness: Colouring paper and crayons given with the menus to keep the kids occupied! Kids menu is very varied and reasonably priced. High chairs available if needed and most importantly we were not made to feel like an inconvenience!

Amazing food, lovely staff, and as a bonus dog friendly. Great place for a feed after a hike in the area.

Had a lovely meal here as a large group on a Sunday lunch. Not many vegetarian options as this was a set menu for this busy period, but what I had was very tasty!Staff were fab, and very accommodating of the three children in our party.Vegetarian options: Limited menu on a Sunday , but excellent quality

The best dairy free lunch I’ve had.I nipped in to The Cricket Inn for some lunch and the staff and chef couldn’t have been better. I’m recently dairy free and find it hard to find places which can accommodate and this place excelled. Not only did the chef mark which dishes could be adapted, the substitutions (chive oil over butter etc) were amazing and well thought through. They even adapted the crumble they had at the end for a dairy free sponge.I can’t thank the folks here enough and will be making a special trip back soon.Dietary restrictions: Dairy free

My family took me to this lovely country pub just on the outskirts of Sheffield. Its up a small winding road and is an unexpected very popular destination dining pub. There are several small cosy rooms with open fires to just have a drink or enjoy a meal. Plus a large dining room which is still relaxed and friendly but nice enough to dress up should you like to. The whole place is dog friendly and muddy boots are expected as they border onto Derbyshire and its many walks. We were seated in the dining room and were served by friendly knowledgeable staff. As it was a Sunday lunch celebration we decided to push out the boat and have three courses. I started with a melange of celeriac including remoulade of celeriac, puree, and

We went here with 8 members of the family, including two children. The pub has a nice old fashioned interior, seats are pleasant. Service was fantastic as were the nice food and drinks that were swiftly brought on the table. Most of us had a variety of the traditional Sunday roast, that was on offer this day. Especially the beef was excellent. We recommend this place for a similar purpose.

We visited The Cricket Inn in December 2023 and had a lovely Turkey Christmas Lunch. Service, in an almost empty restaurant, was slow however. Today, 12th Jan 2024, we returned for a second time for lunch. They have a “Two courses for £20, three for £25” offer on at the moment and we also had a mystery discount envelope from our December visit. I chose a main and dessert, my wife chose a starter and main. When the owner/manager took our order, I specifically asked him about the offer (which applied to starred items on the menu) as my choices were on the reverse side of the menu. The food was good but the service again very slow. 45 mins after placing our order we had only had my wife’s starter and were both waiting for our mains. As before, the restaurant wasn’t busy - there were three other occupied tables with, perhaps another six diners (so eight people in the restaurant in total). Two things spoilt the visit. Firstly, our final bill (which we checked after getting home) was incorrect - we have been overcharged. Secondly, when we asked that the “optional” (but automatically included) 10% service charge be removed, we were challenged as to why. “Was the food okay?” we were asked. “Yes”. “Was the service okay?” “Our food was a bit slow coming out.” You might expect at this point an apology at the very least, but no, simply the response that he’d check the timings in the kitchen. So, would we recommend The Cricket Inn in Totley? No, not really. Food is good but service is slow and I really dislike the automatic inclusion of a 10% service charge - especially since the menu clearly states that this is optional. Finally, I really have an issue with being challenged as to my reason for asking for this charge to be removed. I wonder what his response would have been if we’d said that both the food and service were fine but we’d still like the optional charge removed. Would he have argued the toss? In summary, will we be returning to endure slow service, being overcharged and argue about an optional service charge? Not anytime soon.

Had a wonderful pre Christmas lunch with my sisters - the food was excellent, the service warm and welcoming and the setting beautiful. Highly recommended - exactly what a good pub should be.

Booked a couple of weeks ago as the set menu sounded good, it's now changed so much I've cancelled. No small plates or pub classics still included and nothing else I was looking forward to. Oh and I tried to contact you to leave feedback by email but it says "domain does not exist"

As a coeliac person with many allergies (and a very picky eater) I was amazingly catered for! We had booked and given prior warning of my dietary requirements and on arrival was provided with an annotated menu of what I could have! They were accommodating, kind and non-judgmental and the food was delicious. Any coeliacs in need of a gorgeous apple crumble- this is the place! Lovely service and all-round great experience. :))

The pub was warm and welcoming on our arrival. There was a fire burning and the decor was tasteful and charming. The whole place has a cosy and relaxing feel to it. There’s a great choice of beers and wines available and that’s before we get to the food. I had the beef bourguignon and It was fantastic- by far the best I’ve ever had. My wife and mother-in-law had the beef pie and they said it was delicious. The dessert choice is great too and we had the sticky toffee pudding which was fab! The service was wonderful and I can’t wait to go again. What more can I say?!

Lovely pub nestled in the Sheffield countryside,Nice food, staff are helpful but unfortunately they fail the lime and soda test £2.50 for a splash of lime cordial and soda water even with inflation is just price gouging!

I was surprised when 2 average burgers and chips, and 2 drinks totalled £52. When the server came over, he handed me a folded receipt and he eagerly gestured the tap of my card on the contactless machine right away, I went along thinking nothing of it. Very shocked to see a £6 tip added with no option, despite the receipts label. Would not recommend. Had better food at a “2 for 10 restaurant” and you normally get a side with the food!
