beautiful old pub, with delicious food that my friend and i enjoyed, we loved the atmosphere. we work in hospo so we know how exhausting it can be working in a pub, but the girls that served us were radiant, we got two of their names (elise and katie), but there were three women working there that treated everyone to a smile!!! would go again and again and again, very worth every penny

Mothering Sunday 2024The positives:- greeted by a lovely lady & given a bunch of daffodils, nice touch- clean cutlery, food served on hot plates- no issues with drinks orders- steak pie was good (no suggestion of Stilton however), as was the vegetarian pieThe sad negatives:- long waits for food after order- only 2 starters from 3 delivered- mushrooms looked unappetising being served in a thin, grey sauce and tasting very sour- pie & mash arrived as pie & chips, starter finally arrived with vegetarian main & when cod mornay arrived it had roasted potatoes instead of chips, a melted cheese topping rather than a cheese and spinach sauce, overcooked fish & burnt green vegAll in all, not the lovely celebration it was meant to be, especially having driven from Leicester & having heard such great things about this place. In their defence, a large part of the bill was deducted, and I feel for the lovely lady who served us, I just hope her day got better. The place itself is very tired and in need of some tlc, especially the toilets.

The Sneyd Arms in Keele offers a delightful culinary experience with a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. The quality of the food is commendable, boasting well-prepared dishes and flavorful options. The selection of beers on tap adds another layer to the experience, providing a range of choices to complement your meal. The atmosphere is inviting, making it an enjoyable spot for both food enthusiasts and beer connoisseurs alike.

As being an American and this being my first time in the UK. I really wanted to try an old British Pub once I got here and this place did just that. People told me to go try this place so I went and now will come here much more. The food was so good and the service there was amazing. The environment of the place was very pleasant and will be one of my highlights of coming to Keele.

Having eaten here a couple of times and now hosted an event, I would highly recommend the venue and adjoining building next door to anyone. Not only is the service outstanding but the help and communication in the build up is fast and reassuring. James and his team run a beautiful pub where the food is varied, delicious and served with a smile, the choice of drinks plentiful and the atmosphere welcoming. Thank you all for making our night amazing! Can’t wait to find an excuse to come back soon xxxx

Lovely surroundings. Service was slow and food average but clearly home cooked which was nice. Really impressed with range of vegan options.

We popped up to a snowy Keele to visit our son who is at Uni there. We called ahead, and 10 minutes later were sat at a table in this warm and cosy pub. Staff were great and we ordered a sharing platter for starter and Sunday roasts for all. The food was excellent and just what was needed on a cold and miserable day. We will definitely visit again.

I should have known that the meal would be interesting when I received 4 separate emails on December 8th with changes to our booking numbers and times for a booking that was made on 14th October. I had to ring the pub and confirm that our booking was still there for the correct time and numbers. They said that they had been changing table numbers around for the day and our booking was still correct. ( changing tables around shouldn’t generate emails to customers) On the day I rang to inform them that we would now be a table of 4 for the festive menu booking as 2 members of our party were unfortunately Ill and unable to attend . Upon arriving at The Sneyd 2 members off staff were directly in front of us and saw us waiting to be seated but proceeded to ignore us and carry on chatting until one lady disappeared off to the left and the Second Lady came over to us and took us to our table. The table was still set up for 6 despite us having rung ahead. The Tortellini starter that 2 of our party had was tasteless and bland. The Turkey meals were tasty and ample. However 3 of us had the Turkey 2 of which had plenty of gravy , but my plate had hardly any gravy so I asked for a jug of gravy. The deserts were tasty . After the meal the lady asked if we wanted anything else and we said that we thought complimentary tea and coffee and mince pies were part of the offer. We ordered 2 flat whites a latte and a cup of green tea. Some minutes later I was told there was no green tea so I said I would leave a drink. Whilst we were waiting for our drinks I saw a member off staff come in through the back door with 4 mince pies which they had obviously had to nip to the shop to buy. Our drinks came separately at different times. We then asked to pay the bill and was surprised to see a charge off 75p for a jug of gravy when I was only asking for gravy as my dish hardly had any and we were not informed of the extra charge at the time. Also we had been charged for the complimentary coffees as apparently the ones we ordered were not part of the deal. Why were we not told this when we placed the order? We would have raised this at the time but nobody at any point asked if we were enjoying our meal and if everything was ok with it . We decided to pay the bill in full but not leave a tip due to the poor communication and lack of transparency due to the extra charges. Finally we should have been given a golden envelope as advertised on your chalk board and on your social media but weren’t given one. I don’t like confrontation and so left without querying the extra costs or lack of golden envelope. However a much anticipated family meal turned out to be disappointing and lack lustre.

Delicious food in a cosy village pub with friendly staff. I had the gammon steak and it was excellent! Followed by the Chocolate Fudge Sundae! Back on the diet tomorrow! And even better... a pint was £2.99! When I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriot again I'll be sure to stop in for dinner!
