Door was open, two youths sat on the counter tops who said “we’re closed” but it said the establishment closes at 14:00? It was 12:05 when we tried to get our oatcakes. You’re telling me that with two members of staff there, you were unable to process a small order for us? Very disappointing. No wonder Newcastle is in its dilapidated state.

Since Oatcake Heaven changed ownership, the recipe has also clearly been changed and not for the better. The oatcakes are much thicker and have a blander taste. They also adopt a horrible sticky consistency one day after purchase. In my opinion, these used to be the best oatcakes you could buy, sadly not anymore. Time to find a new oatcake shop I'm afraid.
Definitely the best oatcakes in Staffordshire. I brought a pack of 6 to make for us for a quick dinner and they really fill you up. Bargain at 6 at £1.40.Will definitely go back to try their fillings if I want a late lunch.

We really wanted to continue to support the new owners and their business venture as we have been customers for many years, generally we stock up and buy a few dozen extra and pop them in the freezer. The local press had printed an article stating the oatcake recipe wouldn’t change and to be honest I do think for a short while there was little or no difference. When I last called in March I knew immediately that something had changed because as my few dozen were handed to me they felt so much heavier. Now they are twice as thick and have lost their oatmeal taste It’s a great pity.
