I’ve visited Albert’s previously and not really had a problem, but tonight we had a meal for my daughters birthday and the food was disgusting. In fact we feel quite nauseous at the moment. The cheese garlic pizza bread starter was swimming in grease. The sirloin was meant to be medium but was well done tough and chewy but the dogs should be ok with that. The chips and onion rings and peppercorn sauce you get one of each for £12 and the onion rings were sitting in a bed of grease and were just like greasy circles of batter and remained uneaten. Dogs won’t even like them.Such a shame as it’s our go to but not again.I pointed it out to the waitress’s and wasn’t really given a resolve .£92 for a meal for three which was really not nice. Disappointing.

Lovely atmosphere: buzzing, family friendly, multi-generations and, on the day, kids that were a delight to be around - well behaved and enjoying time out with the wider family. Food was lovely - lamb chops in particular; service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely return.

Unfortunately the food wasn't the best, and it feels like a slow decline in quality. Not sure if the chef has changed, or the ingredients, but there is a difference. It's a shame as this was the Sunday Dinner go to!

Booked here for Mother's Day with my mum looking forward to this. Experience kept getting worse from the minute we stepped in.Waited 20 mins to be seated, staff seemed unhappy in general and place appeared to be understaffed.Didn't notice anything on the website to state it was a set menu. Went to double check in case we just missed it and the website redirects to their Google page so was unable to check. It seemed multiple people were unaware of this too with many asking for the regular menu.Service wasn't great. We were offered drinks fairly quickly but waited 50 mins to even be asked what we wanted to order, 5 options on the menu and two of which they'd run out of so we paid for drinks and left. Table next to us were there before us and received their drinks 10 mins after us.Atmosphere was very strange, didn't seem like people were happy at all. Table behind us also left without having food. Seemed pricey for a very limited menu. The menu itself had many spelling errors (we counted 12 and I'm dyslexic! ?) one of which being "conelliopn" which apparently was cannelloni. The whole experience has put us off and we won't be visiting again!

If I could rate this less than 1/5 stars I would.I visited this restaurant around December 2023 previously with friends, and the service was slow but the food was great so we thought we would give it another go for our friends birthday in March 2024. The March 2024 visit is what I am basing this review off.As expected the service was slow, we had to ask twice to be served for drinks. Then once we had our drinks we had our drinks we had to ask again to be served for food. We were met with the response “we will have to check if the kitchen is ready to take another food order first”. Strange but ok, they then took our order about 10 minutes later.Starters no problem, slow to receive but good food. Mains took a long time to come out but when they eventually did a lot was wrong.I ordered a starter size of a risotto and my friend ordered a main size of the risotto but without tomatoes. When this arrived we had the same size portion even though we were paying different prices and hers had tomatoes in. She asked for them to be removed and they returned with a small sized portion of risotto. We explained I had ordered the smaller size risotto and she ordered the larger sizes but without tomatoes. They quickly rectified the issue and my friend had a main size risotto and I kept the meal I was given. The next issue arose when my friend, who is pescatarian, was eating her seafood tagliatelle. As she got to the bottom of the dish she found chorizo sausage in her dish. She therefore couldn’t eat anymore and felt quite upset that she could have eaten meat and not realised previously when enjoying the dish.Another issue was with the steak ordered. It was asked to be cooked medium rare but looked like it was still mooing on the plate. This member of our party did not complain as he couldn’t be bothered to ask again for help after he’s dish arrived much later than everyone else’s.When the waitress came to collect our plates she said she will not be able to refund the seafood tagliatelle or the steak as it was mostly eaten (absolutely fine) but we requested to speak to a manager. She tried for 10-15 minutes to try and call a manager but was unable to get hold of him. This was met with the response “he might be with his children”. Ok, but who is in charge of the restaurant when he is busy? What if there is an emergency in the restaurant and he’s is required to be present. This is not very good for the staff. The waitress was apologetic, we explained this is not your fault but poor management and organisation from above you.We paid the bill and left. We sat down at our table 19:30pm we did not leave until 22:30pm. 3 hours due to a delay in service ultimately, 45 minute wait to be asked if we would like to order drinks.Overall, management have a lot to answer for. Service is poor it is understaffed and not even that busy. It’s a shame because the food is nice but it is not worth the shambles of trying to get served, wait for food and then for it to be completely wrong and not the correct dietary requirements.Parking: Very limited space. Difficult to park

Incredibly loud, the restaurant owners need to address noise issues. We sat at table near entrance, door constantly opening, very cold. 3 large groups sat just before us, we waited 20mins for a drink then over an hour for food which we sent back as food was cold.It was replaced quickly, serving staff very apologetic. Table of 4 sitting behind us walked out. Portion size not great , 2 tiny lamb chops for £21, very small side of veg. Poor value for money. Won't be going again.

Gone downhill. Long waits and a drop in food quality. Even outside is starting to look rough and not cared for. Needs some paint and tlc. Keep the car wash cars out the car park, especially the one that just parks in the disabled bay.Don't want to argue over my bill (3 times) for bad/raw food. Staff ha e zero me I and drink knowledge. Come on Albert's, we had such high hopes for you.

I'm coeliac and after reading some positive reviews that people had eaten gluten free here we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately it seems to have changed hands. I was given the menu which didn't show any GF options. When I asked what was GF I was told to read the description, if it has bread it has gluten in. Obviously fellow coeliacs will know this is a big no no. When I probed further another member of staff did say they will let the kitchen know and they will make sure it's GF and they fry chips separately. I just wasn't filled with confidence and didn't want to end up seriously poorly so we have the food a miss. It's a lovely place inside though, right by the train station for a quick drink before you go out which is handy. Unfortunately I can't comment on how the food is. But just warning coeliacs to avoid :)
