Popped in for lunch the other day and me and my partner both had an amazing meal, the chips in particular were to die for! The lady who served us was lovely and helpful, and the interior and exterior has a warm and friendly vibe. Definitely will be back! ?

Super value & great quality food. Had chicken that was perfectly cooked & full of flavour. To my surprise the Merlot was fine enough to drink without food.I often find the wine can be bitterly acidic. The service was so personal too.A great place to eat.

Me and my partner decided to pop in on a long drive and will certainly did not regret it. Staff were welcoming and I had the best milkshake with baileys in it. The waitress was kind and served us straight away. The food was unbelievably good and arrived very quick. The food was served in a lovely dish and presentation was perfect. Couldn’t rate this pub any higher.

The food was fantastic and people were great. You can tell they put a lot of effort into their bbq. Their home made fries are brilliant. And the hot dog was bloody delicious! If you’re in the area don’t hesitate to give it a go. Glad I found this on google randomly.

It’s local so really wanted to support this business. No atmosphere in the conservatory where we were seated, no blinds up the window just old wooden tables with uncomfortable old chairs. We ordered the Smokehouse platter consisting of King Ribs, unfortunately no BBQ sauce, very tough and full of fat. Not that tasty either to be fair. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. We weren’t offered any cutlery either so had to take it from other tables. Service was quite slow. Chips were extremely salty, so salty we couldn’t eat them. Oh well we’ve been and will not return. Front of building really needs to be more inviting and the rear of the building needs tidying up as looks like a building site, not sure that’s what dinners want to see on first experience.

This is some of the best BBQ I have had since leaving the south and Midwest of the US! Depending on what you get, you get a ton of food or a smaller serving. The brisket serving was on the small side, especially for the price but it was delicious. I truly enjoyed the food I had and will definitely eat there again.

I have served better pureed food in a nursing home. We travelled three hours each way to visit our mother which should have been for 4 hours of quality time. We went to The Chequers for Sunday lunch and really wished we hadn’t. 3 Sunday lunches ordered, 1 Roast Beef and 2 Roast Chicken. Approx. £12 per head. We were seated in the conservatory where it lacked any ambience. All stark, with no drapes, curtains or rugs to absorb any noise generated in there; and boy was it noisy! All families with their young children were seated in there with crying and clattering that sounded like I was in a Whacky Warehouse! Certainly not the relaxing environment we were hoping for after a three-hour drive. They have the “smoke stack” theme going on, but what was served was disastrous. The beef was over done and coated in some thick sickly barbeque seasoning. The roast chicken was a scabby barbequed chicken leg, that Iceland would probably reject. This barbeque flavour went against everything a Sunday lunch should be. The gravy was like salty dish water with no flavour whatsoever. The roast potatoes were from a pre-boiled frozen catering pack, thrown in the oven to warm and served without any crispy roasted surface that I’m sure Procol Harum could write a song about that would leave you crying into your dinner plate. The veg had little appeal laying there cooked to an inch within its life looking flaccid; and because it had stewed, it tasted like something removed from my nanna’s commode. There was no sight of the stuffing that was so eloquently described on the menu. I was relying on that to have something edible to eat. No care or attention went into the cooking, simply a half-hearted attempt at filling plates for a price. Our bill came to around £47 that was literally a waste of money. We were offered free puddings to compensate, but we preferred not to prolong our agony for the sake of an Iceland ice cream roll. The Yorkshire puddings were great and the only thing that was, if only I had received the stuffing, I could have given a raving review! The wine was good; thank goodness that was made by someone else. Where is Gordon Ramsey when you need him.

We love seeing the place evolve. We have been coming here since they reopened. They went through some growing pains but have really started to do it really well. The brisket was so tender I could cut it with a fork. Staff is always friendly and the chef checked to see how our meal was which is nice to see a personal touch like that. Overall recommend and will be coming back.

What a difference 6weeks make. The first time we went to the steakhouse wasn’t a very good experience. Food missing off our order and very slow service. But we’ve just given it another try and what a difference. Great food and great service. Definitely will be back. Thank you for a great evening.

Staff were friendly enough but the food left a lot to be desired. For a smokehouse I was expecting the food to be smoked. Smokers out the back but clearly were not being utilised. Ribs and 'smoked dog' were off the menu. Food was cooked well but lacked flavour. We turned up to have smoked bbq food and have been left wanting.

Thank you to Mille our waitress, Jo for the fantastic food and to all the staff at The Smoke House that looked after us and my family with such great flavours, exiting bbq dishes and tasty cocktails, we look forward to returning. ?
