Superb food, superb service, superb in every way. What a fantastic restaurant. Madame and Monsieur Cavenet and their staff deserve the highest accolades. We had our wedding dinner guests here and secretly hope Madame and Monsieur will stay in Bury for a long time.

The food here is undeniably very good but the place lets itself down for a few reasons.1) There is no atmosphere in the restaurant. It is like visiting a library, people speak in hushed tones, and the staff are overly formal. No laughter, or buzz which means that your experience will be very dull.2) 3 course set menu (£65pp, no a la carte) that does not allow you to choose 2 courses only, AND you have to choose your dessert when you order at the beginning. If you don’t eat dessert or have no room for it then tough. You get the Gallic shrug off.3) The restaurant temperature on a summer night is insufferably hot, especially on tables up the far end past the kitchen which ‘dumps’ heat into the already hot and breathless atmosphere in the dining area. You can feel the heat blast when you pass the service counter. There is no air conditioning.4) Wine by the glass - hideously expensive. £20 for 125ml - please! Sparkling wine, £13.50 for 125ml. Most restaurants have shrunk their by the glass offerings to 125ml - a sign of the times alas.Despite the food quality I would not go back because there ain’t no laughs to be had in there - a morgue would be more lively.

Our second , and much anticipated return visit , and we were not disappointed. Right from the start we were made to feel welcome and very comfortable and once a glass of bubbles arrived, and the menu revealed we new we were in for another treat from this Hidden Gem of a restaurant. The team were initially thrown when I reminded them of our booking information of my wife's GF and DF allergies which appears not to have made it through the IT system, but without any fuss or bother the chef was consulted and appropriate modifications were put in place to ensure that her menus choices were impeccably prepared and presented as if nothing had been changed or modified. The Chef and kitchen brigade are to be congratulated, as are the front of house team, for their skills and expertise in making our lunch yet another one to remember, to the extent that we already have two further reservations made for later this year, Quite simply put, from the Amuse Bouche , through Starter, Mains, Desert and Petit Fours --- perfection! and the skill of the young Sommelier , still in training, point the way to his very successful future in the industry. Overall- Thank you for making our lunch as memorable as before- See you again soon,

The lunch menu was very limited in a sense that one could select from a 2 course or a 3 course menu within which there were some choices for starters, mains and desert. The selections available in the 2 course menu were rather limited. The much pricier 3 course menu had some good selections. We selected the 3 course menu. The food was very nicely presented and was of excellent quality and taste. Service was very good. All in all it was a very pleasant lunch albeit rather pricey. Nevertheless, I can recommend the restaurant provided one is prepared for the high cost.

My lovely wife's treat to me which never happened due to her having a stroke abroad snd unable to come home, was to take me to Maison Bleue in Bury St Eds. She paid a £100 deposit which they were not prepared to carry over. I explained the circumstances in graphic detail and do you know what their response was when I said in which case we would not be rebooking? "We don't want to see you anyway with that attitude!" I kid you not. Don't ever go to such a heartless commercial establishment!!

Wow Wow Wow!!! What a restaurant this is, a truly proper French experience with amazing food, exhaustive wine list and wonderful staff. Every course was superbly executed, beautiful to look at as well as a delight to eat. The star of the show was the cheese trolley, definitely the best I have ever seen anywhere and Madam is rightly proud of the available selection and runs you through and expertly describes every cheese. It was an absolutely excellent evening and thank you to Freddy for looking after us so well.

Great French restaurant. Modest outside but a place to take someone who wants that taste experience. Genuine dishes for good taster experience. Staff smartly dressed and trained to a high standard. Three course taster is £36.00. Great to say water is free here and served in a nice bottled pored by staff. How about that for attention! Good cheese selection well presented and of course cakes!!!Good wine selection to go with meal. Remember the meal l had was an introduction to French cuisine, so if you want anything different it is different pricing! Table placing is professionally set out and table service is attentive and excellent. A place to go if you want the French cuisine experience

Upmarket modern French restaurant. The decor was simple but modern. Food consisted of two set price 3 course menus with 4 options for each course. There was a nice balance of options. The food was nicely presented and flavours were good if generally understated. Wine list was very interesting and we had an excellent Viognier. The service was random. We had our starters delivered to the next door table, Our mains were delivered with the wrong choice, our coffee order was taken twice and we had to ask to get served our last glass of wine before dessert. However overall pleasant enough.

My partner booked as a surprise for my birthday, absolutely first class, the welcome service, and attention to detail were superb. Food was off the scale, we both had a fabulous evening. Will definitely be back. Thank you to you all.

Staff are always pleasant and attentive, food is always flavoursome and good options to choose from. It's not the cheapest place to eat in Bury St Edmunds, but then it isn't MacDonald's!

If you want to experience a culinary range of exquisite food and flavours, then a table at Maison Bleue you will not be disappointed. For a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was nearly full, so this is a testament to the quality and following of the owners. We were pleasantly greeted an shown to our table. The menu choice was varied with two options of a priced menu. There was courses for any diet. The choices we made were exquisite and full of flavour, Sometimes you visit high quality restaurants and come away hungry, but this it not the case at Maison Bleue. The presentation of each dish was so lovely, you couldn't wait to tuck-in. The service was excellent with friendly staff. The wines were a reasonable price and quality. I fully recommend the Maison Bleue for that special occasion.

We had a wonderful lunch at Maison Beue last week. The food was delicious and the service was superb throughout from when the staff welcomed us as we arrived by taxi to ordering a taxi for us when we left due to mobility issues by two in our party who were in their 90s. Thanks also to Maison Bleue for the extra birthday sweet treats with candle which was presented to our 92 year old “Birthday Boy”. This was a complete surprise and totally unexpected but the occasion had obviously been noted during our conversation with the charming waiter who served us and who then passed the info. on to the kitchen. Maison Bleue provided a wonderful lunch with outstanding service. It was a truly pleasurable and memorable experience and all the accolades it receives are well deserved.
