I’m really sorry to have to post this as we have always gone to this chippy for years because we are happy to travel other side of town as it’s worth it.Unfortunately today it was not a good experience food wise.Ordered large plaice and chips and fish cake and chips too. When we got them home so disappointed as the fish was small and the batter had been burnt as fell off the fish when opened the bag. So this was not up to your usual standards and of course the cost also comes into the equation as being old age pensioners can’t afford to chuck away money.

Best chips in town if not alittle pricey , always friendly and polite staff.

Staying in Bury St Edmunds with family. Looking for takeaway food early Monday evening (yesterday). We ordered medium fish and chips. The fish was plentiful and beautifully flaky, the batter tasty and crisp and the chips perfect, even after the drive home. There were several customers eating in and a constant stream coming in and out for takeaway. Very clean. Friendly service. Definitely recommend.

Chips weren't crispy, just mushy. No salt or vinegar offered. Not at a great price either. Doubt I'll go back.

As always Peyton Plaice delivered delicious hot fish and chips to an evening event. Spot on time order correct and all our guests commented on how superb the fish was. Cannot thank these guys enough

Nice chips, not oily and slightly crispy which is nice. Very good portion sizes offered, with Small, Medium and Large with very reasonable prices. A good local chippie and valuable asset to the local community on the Howard Estate.

Usually excellent quality takeaway. If you order for collection check before leaving, just in case.

The food was lovely, portions good too. A variety of size options for chips was great. My only gripe is with the experience. A young lady, clearly new to the job was getting a hard time from the woman in the shop. She had trouble ringing up the seating fee on the till and inadvertently forgotten to charge another couple for "sitting in" the restaurant. The other woman, came through, inspecting the till receipts in front of everyone and gave her a hard time over it. The girl could have asked for help but given the attitude and atmosphere, I can see why she didn't. When woman pointed this out to the customers, she herself had till issues ringing it up and didn't apologise to the young girl or the customers. A real bad attitude. Clearly she was very irritated, as this was transpired towards customers, asking questions with a very curt, rude way. Perhaps the training needs to be a bit more supportive and comprehensive and less mistakes would happen, but given that the girl is clearly a new employee you have to expect mistakes to be made in order for her to learn from them. An attitude adjustment is needed here, I felt sorry for the girl and the lady just made everyone feel uncomfortable and ultimately came across very unprofessional. This should have been handled differently.

Great food and prices, plus friendly staff ?Wheelchair accessibility: lots of room to get a wheelchair in the shop.

Always friendly and helpful. Good food. Been using Peyton plaice for years. Even with the original shop on Howard Estate. A special place for me as my friend and I used to dodge out of school at lunchtime to come and get chips. ? A naughty but happy memory.
