A great pub, very popular with locals. The beers are inexpensive, the focus is on atmosphere rather than profit. A good range of real ales and bar snacks. The landlord is a character. It all makes for a very pleasant place for drinks with friends.Parking: Car park round the back or on street parking very close.

A proper old pub that just serves real ale mainly, choose your beer, find a table, sit and enjoy then repeat, brilliant.

This is a 'must visit' pub if you love cask ales and are visiting BSE. Six excellent cask ales for just £2.60-£3.00 a pint. It's a traditional, 'proper' pub - no music, no TV, no fruit machines. Just lots of conversations with the local punters and staff.
It was a real treat to visit a proper pub the choice of real ales was a real treat and the prices were unbelievably cheap. I recommend it to anyone who visits Bury St Edmunds and is a real ale fan.

A true real ale pub. No music, no games, no food apart from crisps and nuts, great selection of local real ale at really good prices, £2.50-£2.90
Janet Jenkins
No food served here apart from crisps and peanuts. But the beer is the star at this great little pub.
Robin Sharp
A wonderful, traditional pub with a traditional (though very individual!) guvnor. Brilliant selection of well-kept ales at incredible (cheap) prices. A real hidden gem - love it! ?

A proper pub. Unless you drink lager. But then if you drink lager you won't like it anyway. Cash only
