I only awarded 4 stars because meals weren't available at the time we visited, which is a pity because they have a choice of meals priced at only £7 each. 5 stars for service and atmosphere though.

We dined at the beautifully festively decorated Greyhound at Ixworth with a large party of friends last evening and the food was absolutely amazing. The hosts were so welcoming and, although there were lots of us, the food was served piping hot and at the same time. The choice of starters and desserts complimented the sumptuous main course. Can't praise them enough and we will be back soon.

Prepare yourselves for a long but accurate review. We chose this place to eat as it had been a local for my father when he was alive and as a family we wanted to revisit the local area to see the changes too. It was a party of 15 people (1 in a wheelchair) we had pre booked and gave our food orders by email, so the pub was prepared for our arrival. They knew we needed to get a wheelchair inside and they were able to accomodate so they said. Upon arriving family members went inside to ask how to access for the wheelchair user and the gentleman behind the bar was rather fazed but also quite rude, after discussion was told the only access was via steps inside the bar but firstly we had to work our way around the pool table, a couple of locals moved the table for us so we could get access to the landlords disgrace may I add, the landlord then went on to say he never had any order confirmation and therefore tables were reserved or set, luckily or not there was not one else in the restaurant area so it accomodate. We went in and thought we would be helpful by putting the tables together as we would be using them all anyway and of course we would of put them back but he got really defensive with us and wouldn't allow us to move the tables so we all had to sit separately. When we explained we would need room for the wheelchair he started moving one table in the corner and tried to seat the wheelchair user alone and facing the wall, we stated that wasn't possible to do that so we ourselves turned the chair and put another table beside it. If it hadn't of been for the fact that it had taken time to get into the bar/restaurant and seat the wheelchair user we would not have stayed. We placed our drinks order and then our food order all together but it all came out table by table so by time the last table received there meals the first table had finished. The food itself was mostly inedible and was obviously frozen and rushed, Plus they didn't have half the stuff on menu. The whole experience was unpleasant and i can definitely say myself and my family members will not return. Considering this pub has good ratings I can only think this is because the landlady herself is friendly and empathetic unlike her partner who is just grumpy and rude. He even had the audacity to moan about the pool table being moved when it wasn't even us that moved it. And in my career If i had a table of 15 booked in and hadn't received their order like he said i would of been chasing the party organiser wouldn't you ?? Overall one of the worst if not the worst experiences ever received when eating out.

Tried the Sunday roast for the first time at this pub. Absolutely delicious. Beef melted in your mouth, proper roast potatoes and yorkies and good selection of veggies all piping hot. Highly recommend.

We called in on the off chance for Sunday lunch. We received a warm welcome from the owners, who told us that they had been there for 41 years!! They only do one meat, which on that Sunday was roast beef, which suited us fine and in my opinion is very sensible when times are hard and minimising wastage is essential. And what a fantastic Sunday lunch it was! Three thick slices of very tender beef, perfect roast potatoes, and enough veg for four - cabbage, carrots, broccoli and peas. There were also two homemade Yorkshire puddings each, and lovely beef gravy. The quality was high and we thought it was excellent value for money - and they made our little dog very welcome. It's a shame we were on holiday - if we lived in the area this would be a regular for Sunday lunch!

Traditional pub, obviously a local favourite. Lots going on, and a great discovery when camping in the area. Nice home style food, nicely presented and served.

Stopped off on our way for a weeks break in Suffolk. The wonderful jacket potato with beans with great melted cheese made up for the very unwelcoming reception from the landlord when we walked in and asked if they were serving food on the day. I was very tempted to walk out but we had been travelling for some time and needed a break. Coming from the Midlands it didn't give us a good impression of the area but thankfully it was a one off, the people and service at our destination in Suffolk didn't reflect his attitude at all.
