Was going to book, but understand my baby is not welcome for dinner. Very un-Italian.

We love Watson and Walpole, it's one of our top picks in Suffolk. The food tastes authentically and deliciously Italian (better than some we've had in Italy), the ingredients are fresh and often locally sourced, the menu changes often while retaining variations on old favourites, the wine list is good and the staff charming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Everything is extremely tasty, a nice enough setting with effeicent friendly service. Portions a bit stingy for the price imo but overall really delicious food that you cant get anywhere else very locallyVegetarian options: An alternative vegetarian menu is provided with some small alterations from the regular menu.

We took the opportunity to have a chefs lunch before the craziness of Christmas started. Absolutely terrific set lunch menu… flavour & menu design totally on point. Such a treat to enjoy food that has clearly been cooked with so much care and attention. Hats off to the entire team. This standard does not happen by chance. Thank you for a wonderful lunch break. And I bumped into another local chef. Definitely the place to eat lunch !

At the risk of being accused of malevolent and false critique by the owner; yes, the food is good but nothing fantastic. I felt rushed by the staff - menu had not been with us more than 3 minutes when staff asked if we had chosen yet - I needed help understanding what some things were, so had not yet been able to make a choice. The tables are too close together and the atmosphere is not what I was expecting; more like a bistro than an Italian restaurant, disappointing charging what they do.I was appalled at having to give credit card details and being told there would be a £30 charge if booking cancelled less than 24 hours before; what happens if someone is ill/in an accident/car breaks down, any number of unforeseen circumstances beyond normal control and for which you would be penalised.I was also appalled to learn that a 12.5% service charge had already been added to the bill when it was presented to me; surely it should be up to the customer to determine what they would like to give? You cannot have it all ways - claiming to be a local restaurant, catering for the locals but applying charges and high prices which are above and beyond what you are actually offering. As I said - wait for the barbed response from the owner - taking criticism is not something we enjoy, but you are in the public eye and a visitor's comments and experience should be taken as they are meant - not challenged and discredited.

Went for a birthday celebration and it was worth the wait, hype and distance (coming from Felixstowe). Everything was simply stunning. A jewel of Suffolk! And I can't wait to go back.

This was our second lunch at W&W and it was just as good as the first time. Excellent food served by friendly, efficient staff. There was a good choice of dishes at sensible prices. Well done and thank you.

Always looking for a new place to have lunch with friends each month and certainly hit the jackpot here. Lovely interior such very friendly effficient staff that interact with their customers. We all tried the Frissa dish which was a selection of little dishes such as battered courgette, gnocchi with crab sauce, burrata mortadella and others. They were all superb full of flavour and delicious Good selection of wines and as other reviews have said the tiramisu was to die for.

A very disappointing meal for a price that should have bought something respectable. Uninspired antipasti and the lamb looked and tasted like a school dinner. Only the tiramisu was edible. Half empty on a Friday night. Perhaps it was the chef's night off.

Vegan birthday Italian treat from my family. The food was excellent and we were very well looked after. Nice to have a good range of vegan / vegetarian options at each course. Good wine list too. All perfect and catered for kids too.

Took some foodie friends to W&W last night and it didn’t disappoint! All commented on the depth of flavour in each dish. This was especially pleasing for the vegetarians that often have to settle for underwhelming dishes when dining.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at what was supposed to be a high-end Italian restaurant, and I can't express enough how thoroughly disappointed I am. Let's start with the premixed cocktails – an absolute travesty. I expected a place of this caliber to offer artisanal cocktails with fresh ingredients, but instead, I was met with premixed concoctions that tasted like they'd been sitting on the shelf for ages. It's astonishing that a restaurant claiming to be upscale would resort to such shortcuts. The discomfort didn't stop at the drinks. The seating and overall environment were downright dreadful. The chairs were unbelievably uncomfortable, and the atmosphere was devoid of the charm and elegance one would anticipate from a high-end Italian establishment. It felt more like a hastily thrown-together cafeteria than a place where you'd expect to savor a fine Italian meal. To make matters worse, the service was agonizingly slow. It took an eternity for our food to arrive, and our server appeared more interested in their own agenda than ensuring our dining experience was pleasant. Finally, the prices were absolutely ludicrous for the quality of experience we endured. I don't mind paying a premium for exceptional dining, but what we got was nothing short of a rip-off. In summary, this restaurant failed spectacularly in delivering the high-end Italian dining experience it promised, and I would strongly advise a

Unfortunately I don’t come to this beautiful part of England to enjoy the country side but above all to take a trip to Framlingham and have lunch at Watson & Walpole that to my view serve some of the most authentic Italian dishes in England. Four of us were welcomed by a friendly and smiling Maddy that also took our order. As a starter I shared the Orecchiette with a crab and Artichoke simply delicious I had to ask for a little extra bread to make the scarpetta (the Italian way to say mop up the sauce). My main course Cornish Monkfish with Sicilian Caponata another flavourful dish. Being diabetic I didn’t order a dessert but I tasted the Tiramisu, great. I also managed to have a taste of my son in law Octopus that he thaught was the best Octopus he ever tasted. One dish I suggest to accompany any main course are the zucchini fritti. Very popular in Italy during the summer. It goes without say that the service was very friendly friendly and efficient by Maddy no2. My guest thanked me for suggesting the restaurant as it was unknown to them. Personally I shall look forward to return hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks to everyone concerned especially the unseen people in the kitchen.
