We had a lovely meal here last night. I had steak and red wine jus, my husband had the maple and bacon burger. Tastiest food in the area, attentive staff, friendly and welcoming. We were staying 1 night on the Marina and definitely chose wisely where to eat! Great menu, service and atmosphere.

After a lovely stay at the Salthouse, we decided to have Sunday lunch before we left, abd what a superb lunch, cooked to perfection and delicious gravy. We will definitely go

High expectations that fell super short. On arrival after ensuring we had booked the conservatory we got told the only table available was one right by the front door which was consistently in use due to people waiting for tables and to be seated. We were then told we could wait upstairs in the wine room for a table instead but we would have to check if it was open as it was closed for a private function earlier. We were provided a table in the conservatory which we were told was not available yet nobody had left the restaurant in this time.Beers were labelled at 660ml but we were provided with 330ml and told it was a typo on the menu.On ordering food we were asked to hurry due to the kitchen closing in half an hours time. No allergy requests were asked which my partner has a nut allergy.Whilst waiting for our starters the table behind us was provided with there starter in front of them which was wrong and sent back for it to then placed in front of ourselves. When questioned the managers response was she didn't touch it and deemed this as acceptable. On a fresh starter arriving of scallops and chorizo, I cannot complain about this as was amazing and very tasty.2 burgers were ordered after much disappointment the ribeye on the bone for 2, shown on the online menu was no longer on it. We were asked how we would like our burgers cooked, either pink or well done. Both of us asked for pink. On delivery of our burger it was well done and when questioned once again, managers response was that's how our chefs cook it and some staff haven't been updated on this fact. On this fact we stated that a well done burger is not what we ordered she just walked away. Unable to finish the burger due to it being dry and lacking in moisture a pink burger would provide, although exceptionally hungry was just shrugged off.We were asked if we wanted dessert menus and when we said no was left for 15 minutes where 2 members of staff at different times removed vinegar and condiments, alongside empty drink bottles of the table with no interaction. On getting the attention of a waitress and asking for the bill it was clear there was no intentions of an apology.People around seemed to off been intently looked after and provided extras and seemed like these people were clearly regulars who are given more attention than others. This was noted by a few others who had entered the restaurant at the same time.We went here with the amazing reviews and what seemed to be good food but apart from the scallops starter the food was sub par for the price and attention to details, customer service and general attitude was down right appalling. It could of been an evening of clear disaster as celebrating a Christmas meal together as a limited time available alone but we were able to laugh it off but no compensation was given or even a apology for the situation.Disappointed, and let down. Will not return.

We visited this restaurant for a friends Christmas catch up. Party of 6. Our orders were requested prior to the booking via email. The requirement was intimated that it was a set 2 or three course lunch. Ranging to £38.50 for set three course. Upon various telephone calls to the restaurant, it was actually advised, we could, on the day, select from a very limited a la cart menu. 6 such pre orders were supplied. On the day, food, service were average. When we requested the bill, it didn’t add up correctly. 7 covers were charged, but, charged in a confusing way, as to purposely deceive us. The bill was contested at the time. We were advised, ‘the till doesn’t lie’. The bill was settled in full, despite awkward confrontation with staff. Upon leaving, and assessing the bill in depth, the ‘OVERCHARGING’ was established. We have emailed several times, called numerous times. Not one person within the staff can answer our questions!! So, I’m short, if you are prepared for sub standard food, poor service and would enjoy being overcharged the BISTRO ON THE QUAY in Ipswich is the place for you.

Just discovered this place for a sunday brunch, probably the best full English breakfast I've had in a long time. The rest of the menu looks absolutely amazing too, I will definitely be back here!

Visited the Wine Boutique upstairs. Saturday pre lunch bubbles on anniversary day. Lunch then at Mariners. Dana was amazing and the Cremante was perfect.

Super cute little find on a recent visit to Ipswich. We had the Rib Eye sharer and oh my days absolutely stunning meat (not to mention the delicious sides that came with!)

Stopped here on a Sunday morning for a late lunch. The staff were lovely, but the service was slow. Maybe additional team members needed for the brunch/lunch time. The food, while on the pricier sider, was of fab quality - you could tell everything on the lovely full english was of good quality.

We have eaten at this fabulous restaurant on many occasions, and all I can say is this is just a gift that keeps on giving… Our latest visit was a Wednesday lunchtime, the restaurant was busy but it didn’t affect our experience, it was perfect in fact! We opted out for a beetroot starter to share, this was the prettiest plate of food I have ever seen in my life! For mains we had the duck and pork belly. Both were beautifully presented, flavoursome and cooked to perfection! Service was friendly and efficient, as always! The owner is very knowledgeable and passionate. And the young lady who served us (I think she said her name was Vlada) was very attentive, helpful and chatty! Thank you, Bistro On The Quay! We can not wait to visit again VERY soon!

The menu was interesting with a good range of options. Both our meals were delicious; beautifully cooked lamb over quinoa; mine a parmesan encrusted chicken. Great value.

This had become a regular Saturday pre football match eating spot for us. Right on ipswich waterfront. Nice range of food. Well cooked, presented and tasty, reasonable prices too. We typically spend about £20-£25 per head for main meal, couple of drinks and shared dessert including a tip. We left a very positive review last year. However, been back a couple of times this season but sadly been disappointed. Two occasions - both Saturday lunchtime - the service was poor and the food service slower than previously experienced. The new staff appeared more interested in socialising amongst themselves than checking on customers). Maybe just a Saturday thing. Will try once more as we just so loved it at our earlier visits and the food is good. Interested to see how others feel. Hopefully just an off day for us.
